Software development engineer ( building and optimizing AI libraries for client GPU compute platforms).
100% remote in the US.
Long Term Contract ( 6 Months to start with)
The Person
In this role you will be developing in the key library for AI workloads. You are someone that has insight into performance optimizations with strong analytical and problem-solving skills or has a strong sofware development skillset
Responsibilities:
- Design, implement, optimize, profiling and analyze AI operations on Client’s GPU
- Deliver high-quality code with open-source software
- Work with key technical specialists across Client and with our partners and customers to improve libraries
Preferred Experience
- Excellent C/C++ programming and software design skills such as software architecture design, performance analysis, debugging and test design
- Knowledge of GPU computing (CUDA, HIP, OpenCL) or parallel programming
- Having low-level optimization techniques, such as assembly programming experience is a plus
- Having understanding of Deep Learning is a plus
- Understanding of GPU, DSP, or any of AI accelerators is a plus
Education
- Master's or PhD or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field

THE ROLE:
Client is looking for a strategic software engineering lead who is passionate about improving the performance of AI applications and benchmarks. You will be a member of the ROCm GPU software team comprised of incredibly talented industry specialists and will work with the very latest hardware and software technology.
THE PERSON: The ideal candidate should be passionate about software engineering, performance optimizations and possess leadership skills to drive sophisticated issues to resolution. Able to communicate effectively and work optimally with different teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design software modules in C++, Python, HIP, assembly to enable key mathematical software for datacenter GPU systems
- Understand existing codebases and software designs, and make improvements to enhance maintainability and operational efficiency
- Work with Client’s architecture specialists to improve future products and plan software support strategies
- Aid management in planning, and delivering industry-leading software
- Stay informed of software and hardware trends and innovations, especially pertaining to software algorithms and hardware architecture
- Design and develop new groundbreaking technologies
- Participate in new ASIC and hardware bring ups
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with agile software development practices
- Demonstrated capacity to technically lead developers of varying levels
- Proficient in C/C++ & Python programming employing best software design practices
- GPU software development involving HIP, CUDA, or OpenCL
- Experience in software performance evaluations, optimizations and debugging
- Ability to closely interact with software technical leads, program managers, and interface with hardware teams
ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS:
- Master’s or Doctoral degree in Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline
