Digital Software Engineering Architect
📍 St. Louis, Missouri (Onsite)
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Digital Software Engineering Architect to lead software architecture and DevSecOps initiatives on a large-scale, proprietary defence programme.
This role is ideal for a technical leader with a strong background in software engineering, DevSecOps, and Agile delivery who enjoys driving engineering standards, mentoring teams, and shaping technical strategy in a complex, mission-critical environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Define, document, and enforce software engineering standards, including coding conventions, branching strategies, testing requirements, and code review practices.
- Drive architectural decisions in collaboration with Chief Engineers across multiple DevSecOps teams.
- Translate digital engineering requirements into actionable team initiatives.
- Lead planning and execution across a team of approximately 60 DevSecOps and Software Engineers.
- Act as the primary technical liaison between engineering leadership, IPT leads, and software delivery teams.
- Design and implement rollout plans for new tools, platforms, frameworks, and engineering practices.
- Continuously improve engineering processes to reduce delivery risk, rework, and operational friction.
- Mentor and develop engineers, promoting technical excellence and engineering best practices.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Active U.S. Secret Security Clearance (or one active within the past 24 months).
- 9+ years of software development experience using languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, Java, or Ada.
- 6+ years leading Agile software engineering teams.
- Extensive experience with DevSecOps technologies including Kubernetes, GitLab, Terraform, cloud platforms, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Proven experience leading or mentoring engineering teams.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
