Job Title: SAP Database Administrator (SAP DBA)
Duration: 3 to 4 weeks project
Location: Remote
The SAP Database Administrator (DBA) will be responsible for executing and supporting the migration of SAP databases between on-premise environments, ensuring data integrity, system availability, and seamless application functionality post-migration. This role will work closely with SAP Basis, infrastructure, and application teams to ensure a controlled and successful transition.
Key Responsibilities
Migration Planning & Execution
- Plan and execute database migration between on-prem servers (homogeneous or heterogeneous)
- Validate source and target environments for compatibility and readiness
- Define migration approach (backup/restore, export/import, system copy, or HANA migration tools)
System Copy & Data Migration

- Perform SAP system copy activities (database copy, refresh, or relocation)
- Execute data export/import, backup/restore, or replication-based migration
- Ensure data consistency and completeness during migration
Pre & Post Migration Activities
- Conduct pre-migration checks (space, performance, dependencies)
- Support SAP Basis team in post-migration system validation and application startup
- Perform database tuning and optimization post-migration
Performance & Validation
- Validate database performance on the new environment
- Ensure all SAP applications (ECC/S4/BW) are fully functional post-migration
- Support testing teams with data validation and reconciliation

Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution
- Identify and resolve migration-related issues (data mismatch, connectivity, performance)
- Provide root cause analysis (RCA) for any migration defects

- Establish backup and rollback strategies before migration
- Ensure recovery plans are tested and validated
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in database administration for SAP environments
- Strong experience with SAP on-prem and/or SQL Server/DB2
- Knowledge of SAP architecture and Basis operations
- Experience with backup/recovery, HA/DR strategies
- Strong SQL skills and performance tuning expertise
