Location Description

The Meadville, Pennsylvania facility is 135,000 square feet and home to about 290 hard working team members who are proud to produce iconic pet food brands like Rachael Ray® Nutrish®. Located along the banks of French Creek in Northwestern Pennsylvania and 45 minutes from Pittsburgh, Meadville is home to more than 13,000 full time residents and 2,000 Allegheny College students. Meadville is an active center for business, industry, education, the arts, recreation, service and tourism. Conneaut Lake, Pymatuning State Park and the Erie National Wildlife Refuge are wonderful places to appreciate the area's natural beauty.

Responsibilities

Overview

Oversee the daily HR operations of our Meadville, PA pet food plant. Coach, influence, and partner with Operations leaders in maintaining a culture aligned with Post Consumer Brands’ values and ensure a ready supply of talent to meet the future needs of the business. Manage assigned HR staff. Support, implement, and maintain food safety and quality practices as required through SQF.

Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Oversee daily human resources operations including recruiting, selection, onboarding, training, management, development, employee relations, compensation, benefits, and terminations. Increase management capability in each of these areas.
  • Serve as a member of the facility management team providing strategic thought and direction
  • Drive, influence, advise and support the cultural and people aspects of organizational change within the facility to improve business efficiency and people management. Work in partnership with other resources including HR Centers of Excellence (COE) and initiatives that support business strategy.
  • Provide feedback to HR Leaders, Specialists (COE) and peer groups on implementation and utilization of tools to ensure flawless execution of HR initiatives. Responsible for representing the client's needs and providing client feedback to the Specialist (COE) teams.
  • Work in partnership with the Operations and DC leadership teams to manage employee relations (ER) issues. Build management responsibility and capability for managing ER (where appropriate) issues while pulling in the services of the Centers of Excellence (specialist areas) as needed.
  • Ensure all management are knowledgeable in required legal subject areas including Compliance, Code of Conduct, Diversity, Sexual Harassment, Interviewing, selection skills, and other aspects of employment law.
  • Ensure compliance with all Federal, State and Local legal and regulatory requirements.
  • In partnership with management, direct the local execution of organization-wide talent processes including performance management, engagement, talent planning, etc. Evaluate process effectiveness and make recommendations for improvement, training and/or communication to Specialist (COE) teams.
  • Manage and lead HR personnel resources.
  • Work directly with HR and Operations senior leaders to build and execute a strategic plan for increasing talent readiness and capability.


Qualifications

Education: Four-year college degree in a related field (human resources, industrial relations, psychology, business, etc.). Advanced degree preferred.

Experience: Five+ years’ of HR experience, ideally as a generalist in a manufacturing, distribution center, or retail environment.

Competencies

  • Exceptional leadership skills that have been demonstrated by achieving desired results through others, and building effective partnerships through influence and relationship building skills.
  • An in-depth technical understanding and knowledge of HR processes and systems.
  • Proven ability to balance strategic and tactical skills. Demonstrated problem analysis and resolution.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, verbal and presentation communication skills.
  • Comprehensive HR business process knowledge, including applicant tracking systems, talent management, change management, HCM suite experience: benefits, payroll, time and attendance, performance management, compensation, employee and manager self service experience.
  • Project management experience preferred.
