Staff Protocol Engineer

Accountabilities

• Lead the design, prototyping, and implementation of long-term protocol solutions addressing scalability, latency, and state growth challenges.
• Drive architectural decisions across core infrastructure codebases, contributing to Ethereum-aligned and Cosmos-based systems where needed.
• Investigate and resolve deep technical issues in consensus mechanisms, protocol behavior, and state synchronization.
• Champion engineering best practices, including code quality, documentation, automated testing, and performance optimization.
• Mentor and support engineers across the stack, elevating technical standards and fostering a culture of excellence.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with protocol researchers, DevOps, security, and ecosystem teams to deliver safe, reliable network upgrades.
  
  

Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in backend or protocol engineering, including 2+ years in senior or staff-level roles.
• Deep expertise in Golang and hands-on experience building distributed systems, consensus mechanisms, or blockchain infrastructure.
• Proven background contributing to or working with Ethereum clients, Cosmos SDK, CometBFT, or similar protocol frameworks.
• Strong ability to lead architecture, complex system design, and large-scale performance optimization initiatives.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills, with comfort working asynchronously across distributed teams.
• Preferred qualifications include open-source protocol contributions, experience with large-scale performance tooling, and strong interest in decentralized technologies and Ethereum-aligned systems.
