Job Description


Role: Test Engineer

Type: Perm

Salary: £44K - £46K + bonus + benefits

Location: Rochester | Onsite



Our client, a leader in delivering metering and data acquisition solutions to the power industry, is looking for a Test Engineer to be responsible for mechanical and electrical testing of their completed projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Full ownership of mechanical and electrical testing of electrical panels (metering solutions), including insulation resistance, secondary injections, configuration of various devices etc.
  • Make sure technical standards are maintained in all aspects of testing work in order that safe and successful project implementation.
  • Full ownership of test area; Providing input to test schedule.
  • Run EHS (Environment, health and safety) in connection with testing of projects.
  • Testing documentation and protocols.
  • Identify and lead testing risk and put control in place to mitigate.
  • Coordination of all testing phases; Performing witness acceptance tests.
  • Support and assist the management team to supervise the progress of works and ensure that the testing targets are met and effect remedial action where required.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure testing objectives are met to budget and on time.
  • Occasional support with commissioning works at customers premises.


Qualifications:

  • Electrical engineering or systems engineering technical background required.
  • Ability to interpret and use project documentation including electrical schematics.
  • Excellent problem-solving ability and an engineering curiosity attitude.
  • Knowledge of power industry, high voltage transmission and distribution networks.
  • Excellent time/task management; Resilient to setbacks and committed to achieving goals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in programming of switches & routers, integration and interface with other communications systems advantageous.
  • Experience working in similar role/environment advantageous.
  • Experience in SCADA, control systems and communication protocols advantageous.
  • Relevant testing qualification advantageous.
  • Knowledge of precision high accuracy metering (CoP1, CoP2) advantageous
