They are currently looking for an Intermediate Ruby on Rails Developer to join their team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a full-stack environment, values thoughtful architecture, and is passionate about building reliable, scalable systems that serve real human needs. This is a fully remote role in Canada.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain core web and mobile applications using Ruby on Rails
- Tackle engineering challenges around scale, performance, and data ingestion with creative, data-driven problem solving
- Integrate with third-party tools and services to expand platform capabilities
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams—Product, Finance, Customer Care—to implement and refine features
- Contribute to secure, maintainable code by following SDLC best practices and writing automated tests
- Participate in agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives
- Engage in code reviews, knowledge sharing, and paired programming within your development pod
- Support the mission to provide accessible, responsible financial tools to underserved employees
- 2–5 years of experience working with Ruby on Rails in production environments
- Familiarity with issues related to concurrency, background processing, and third-party integrations
- Strong fundamentals: SOLID principles, domain-driven design, performant queries, and testing best practices
- Comfortable balancing quick iteration with maintainable architecture
- Strong SQL and data analysis capabilities to support feature development and troubleshooting
- Full-stack experience and ownership mindset—from backend to frontend to delivery
- Comfortable using Git, GitHub, and agile project management tools like Jira
- Experience with business intelligence tools like Metabase or Looker
- Familiarity with React or React Native
- Exposure to cloud services or DevOps practices, particularly within AWS
- Background in fintech, accounting, or banking systems
