Job Description

Optomi, in partnership with an industry leading consulting organization, are in search for a Senior Network Engineer for their Wichita, Kansas office.


Work you’ll do/Responsibilities:

Incident & Problem Management: Manage incidents, tickets, change/configuration management, and perform root cause analysis with Level 2 & Level 3 support.


Network Design & Installation: Design, install, and maintain computer networks, connections, and cabling from onsite data centers.


System & Network Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve system failures, network bottlenecks, and performance issues.


Hardware & Software Support: Test, configure, and repair hardware, peripheral devices, and software applications.


Network Configuration & Security:

  • Configure and support routers, switches, access points, and wireless controllers.
  • Implement and troubleshoot Cisco security features, access lists, and authentication (Cisco ACS).
  • Maintain network documentation using Visio and MS PowerPoint.


Network Operations & Incident Response:

  • Diagnose and troubleshoot campus network issues, from end-host connectivity to core traffic flows.
  • Operate and maintain chassis switches with redundancy technologies (VSS, HSRP, SSO, vPC).
  • Respond to and resolve network outages and performance issues.


Client & Team Communication: Regularly engage with project teams, directors, and functional groups, escalating critical matters as needed.

  • Process Optimization & Transformation: Lead process improvement initiatives, implement best practices, and drive operational efficiency.

Qualifications:


Required

  • 5+ years’ experience in network administration role. Able to diagnose, troubleshoot and resolve network outages, network performance issues, or networked application issues.
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in configuring and managing Datacenter Cisco Nexus Switches (5K,7K,9K). Data center and wired/wireless campus networking needs
  • Strong experience in Network Operating Systems (Cisco IOS XE, NX-OS, Aruba/HP) Wireless Networks: Cisco & Aruba APs and Network Controllers, including their authentication integration with Cisco ISE
  • Demonstrable experience in Routing and Switching concept (Cisco / Juniper Platform)
  • Experience with data center and wired/wireless campus networking needs
  • Hands on experience - Hardware Module, Installation, Configuration, Troubleshooting for the following listed Routers and Switches
  • Routers: Cisco 7600, 7500, 7200, 3800, 3700, 3600, 2600, 2900, 1900,1800,1700 series
  • Switches: Nexus 7010, 7009, 9300, 3850 Cisco 3500, 2960 series.
  • Advanced knowledge with core network infrastructure technologies and protocols (campus routing & switching, WLAN, 802.1x, STP, EIGRP, BGP)
  • Experience operating and maintaining chassis switches, with knowledge of various redundancy technologies (VSS, HSRP, SSO, vPC)
  • Must live near or be willing to relocate to Wichita, KS. Relocation bonus available.
  • Be able to work on-site at client office location in Wichita 3 days a week


Preferred: Experience with the operation and maintenance of common NMS, configuration management tools

  • Consulting experience
  • Bachelors degree
  • Enterprise Monitoring Tools experience
  • ITSM/Ticketing tool experience
  • Working knowledge in Load balancers technology (Any OEM)
  • Ability to produce RCA of Severity incidents impacting network with minimum support from Superiors/Seniors within team
  • Experience in the development and implementation of network designs according to standards and best practices
  • 5+ years’ experience in ITIL
  • DNAC experience
  • MCSE certification
  • Familiar with emerging network technologies; specifically, Cisco DNAC and SD-WAN, AWS networking (Direct Connect/VPCs/Transit Gateways/VPGs/VPNs)
  • Working knowledge in SDWAN.
  • Broadcom NetOps Monitoring tool skills
  • ServiceNow as an ITSM/Ticketing tool
  • Previous experience with Cisco switches and routers
  • Familiarity with RADIUS, TACACS and AAA methodologies and protocols.
  • Certifications: CCNP, CCIE, JNCIE
  • Ability to work in team in Global diverse/ multiple stakeholder environment
  • Experience in client facing environment
  • Can operate independently or with minimum supervision
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks into manageable work products
  • Ability to deliver technical demonstrations
