Position Summary

Optomi, in partnership with a leading retail organization, is seeking a Senior Windows Platform Engineer. This hybrid position is responsible for the engineering, automation, reliability, security, and lifecycle management of enterprise Microsoft infrastructure across corporate, distribution center, retail store, data center, and cloud environments.


The engineer will develop repeatable platform standards, automate manual processes, improve observability and recovery capabilities, support hybrid-cloud modernization, and serve as a technical escalation point for complex infrastructure issues in a 24x7 environment.


The position is based in Edgewater Park, New Jersey. The headquarters is expected to relocate approximately 30–45 minutes north, closer to New York City, around Fall 2028. Candidates should be comfortable with the future location. Financial relocation assistance is available!

What Type of Experience Does the Right Candidate Have?

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent professional experience
  • Seven or more years of hands-on Windows systems, platform, infrastructure, or cloud engineering experience
  • Strong experience with Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, and/or 2025
  • Strong experience with Active Directory Domain Services, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, DFS, IIS, RDS, and certificate services
  • Experience with Microsoft Entra ID/Azure AD, identity synchronization, and Conditional Access
  • Experience supporting Microsoft 365, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive
  • Strong experience with VMware vSphere, including vCenter, ESXi, and HA/DRS clusters
  • Experience with enterprise storage systems and backup repositories
  • Experience with Azure infrastructure services
  • Strong PowerShell scripting and automation experience
  • Experience troubleshooting complex infrastructure issues in a 24x7 enterprise environment
  • Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills


What Are the Responsibilities of the Right Candidate?

  • Design, engineer, and maintain enterprise Windows Server platforms
  • Drive lifecycle management for Windows Server versions and virtualization dependencies
  • Engineer and support Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, DFS, IIS, RDS, and certificate services
  • Support Microsoft Entra ID, identity synchronization, Conditional Access, and hybrid identity environments
  • Support Microsoft 365 services, including Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, Teams, and OneDrive
  • Engineer VMware infrastructure and support enterprise storage and backup platforms
  • Support Azure infrastructure services and hybrid connectivity
  • Develop automation using PowerShell, Azure CLI, Terraform, and Azure DevOps
  • Establish repeatable platform standards and automate manual infrastructure processes
  • Implement security controls aligned with internal policies and compliance requirements
  • Improve infrastructure observability, reliability, performance, and recovery capabilities
  • Troubleshoot complex platform issues and serve as a senior technical escalation point
  • Coordinate technical delivery across internal teams and managed-services partners
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, implementation plans, and operational procedures
