Job Description

A leading global technology company is seeking an experienced Incident & Crisis Communications Manager. This position is ideal for a strategic communicator with a strong sense of urgency, capable of managing high-profile incidents and safeguarding brand reputation.

As part of a global, cross-functional team, you will lead crisis communications, craft clear and effective messaging, and provide strategic guidance during critical incidents. You will also contribute to proactive materials such as customer communications, blog posts, and crisis communication playbooks.

This senior communications contract role reports to the Head of Crisis Response, Marketing, and Communications and allows for remote work from anywhere in Australia.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support crisis communications during incidents, ensuring timely and effective responses in the APAC timezone
  • Collaborate with Legal, Customer Support, Engineering, and regional teams to ensure messaging is accurate, consistent, and customer-centric
  • Provide after-hours availability during high-severity crisis events, working alongside global team members
  • Manage media engagement in collaboration with PR, responding to regional media inquiries with approved statements and shaping the narrative

Qualifications & Experience

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate communications, with at least 5 years focused on crisis and reputation management
  • Strong background in enterprise tech or SaaS (security experience is a plus)
  • Proven ability to manage multiple high-profile incidents simultaneously
  • Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical details into clear, accessible messaging
  • Experience in media relations, working with technology journalists, and managing media inquiries
  • Expertise in reputation risk management and proactive communication strategies
  • Strong collaboration skills within a highly distributed, cross-functional organisation
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a commitment to excellence
