๐ Volunteer Opportunity: Science Community Communications Specialist โ Antarctica Project, Tomkulak Consortium
Are you passionate about science communication and fostering global collaboration? The Tomkulak Consortium is looking for a Volunteer Science Community Communications Specialist to play a key role in advancing our transformative Antarctica Project. This project focuses on shaping the deployment of a sustainable, regionally unified critical infrastructure system across Antarctica over the coming decades, allowing Antarctica to be integrated into the global critical infrastructure system in the interests of all global stakeholders.
This role focuses on engaging with the global scientific community to promote a modernized, sustainable, and globally integrated critical infrastructure system in Antarctica. As part of the Communications Department, you'll report directly to the Director of Strategic Communications and contribute to the success of this pioneering initiative.
This is a fully remote position, and is welcome to international applicants.
- Build relationships with scientific organizations, research institutions, and leading experts to garner support for the Antarctica Project.
- Craft and deliver compelling messages that bridge scientific research and strategic project goals.
- Develop communication materials, including presentations, articles, and outreach campaigns, tailored to the science community.
- Represent the Consortium at conferences, forums, and virtual events to engage stakeholders.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure alignment of scientific messaging with broader communication strategies.
- You'll be working alongside other communications specialists so that team tasks can be spread appropriately between many volunteers.
- Strong background in science communication, public engagement, or a related field.
- Excellent writing, storytelling, and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex concepts for diverse audiences.
- Proven experience building networks within the scientific community or research sector.
- A collaborative mindset and a proactive, solutions-driven attitude.
- Familiarity with Antarctic research, sustainability, or global infrastructure systems is a plus.
