Job Description

We are looking for a Guidewire Localization Business Analyst to define detailed business requirements that can be directly used in development to adapt Guidewire products to the needs of the Japanese market. In this role, you will lead the overall process, from creating business scenarios and defining Acceptance Criteria to verifying that implemented features meet the original business requirements.

  • Location: Tokyo, Japan
  • Visa Sponsorship: Available
  • Employment Type: Permanent
  • Japanese: Fluent Japanese language proficiency is a must

Job Overview:

This position is responsible for defining detailed business requirements that can be directly used for development to adapt Guidewire products to the needs of the Japanese market.

As a Business Analyst, you will take the lead throughout the entire process, including creating business scenarios, defining Acceptance Criteria, and verifying that implemented features meet the original business requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define detailed, development-ready business requirements that reflect the specific changes required in Guidewire products. Requirements should be linked to actual product functionality rather than simply describing business intent or conceptual requirements.
  • Create user stories based on business requirements with clear Acceptance Criteria. User stories should contain specific and actionable information at a level that allows developers to implement them without additional explanation.
  • Define the data requirements, workflow requirements, and system integration requirements necessary to implement each feature.
  • Document business rules, process flows, configuration requirements, data mappings, typelist values, and business scenarios at the level required by the development team.
  • Lead or support requirements-gathering sessions with customers and stakeholders.
  • Review completed user stories and UX designs from a business perspective and confirm before acceptance that they meet the original business objectives.
  • Conduct business-level User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and support the identification and resolution of defects.
  • Work with the Quality Assurance team to ensure that requirements are testable and that test cases reflect actual business scenarios.
  • Translate business requirements into functional specifications and contribute to the creation of customer-facing documentation.
  • Proactively use the expert network within partner organizations to validate requirements without relying on escalation to Guidewire.
  • Share insurance industry knowledge with other team members as needed.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Deep and specialized knowledge of the Japanese Property & Casualty Insurance industry. This is the most important selection criterion for the Business Analyst position. The candidate must have sufficient knowledge to identify missing requirements and gaps based on actual insurance business processes rather than simply documenting stakeholder requests.
  • 3+ years of Business Analyst experience in technology implementation projects.
  • Experience defining business requirements such as process maps, use cases, and data mappings in software projects using Agile development methodologies.
  • Japanese and English reading, writing, and speaking skills at a level that allows independent communication with the Guidewire global team.
  • Guidewire Business Analyst certification is preferred. Candidates who do not currently hold the certification may still apply if they have Guidewire project experience. After joining the project, they will be expected to work toward obtaining the required certification as necessary.

Highly Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Guidewire Business Analyst certification at Ace level.
  • Ability to create business scenarios directly based on the actual behavior of Guidewire products. This means being able to specifically define what needs to be changed in the product rather than simply rephrasing general business needs.
  • Experience working in a business-related or IT-related role at a Japanese Property & Casualty insurance company or for Japanese Property & Casualty insurance clients.
  • Proven experience independently validating requirements by using an expert network within partner organizations.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Experience using AI-based requirements definition support tools.
  • Experience with multiple Guidewire products, for example, both PolicyCenter and BillingCenter.
  • Formal education or training in Business Analysis methodologies.
