Job Description

Design the interfaces for AI products used by governments and large enterprises across the GCC, at a level of craft that stands next to the best software being made anywhere, in two languages that read in opposite directions.

About Xpin AI

Xpin AI builds sovereign AI for governments, enterprises, and institutions across the GCC. Our products are bilingual at their core, spanning Arabic, English, and regional languages, and ship into both on-premise sovereign environments and cloud. Design here is a genuinely hard problem rather than a finishing layer: our users are making consequential decisions with a system whose output is probabilistic, so clarity, trust, and bilingual fluency are not polish, they are the product.

The role

You own the interface design for products across our suite. This is a hands-on individual contributor role. You will not be writing decks about design, you will be drawing the screens, building the components, and sitting with the engineers who ship them.

The bar is high and worth being explicit about. We are looking for the level of craft where typography, spacing, hierarchy, and motion are decided rather than defaulted, where the interface feels obvious to use and considered up close, and where nothing looks like it came out of a template. Most enterprise software in this region does not clear that bar. That is precisely the opening.

What you'll design
  • Product interfaces end to end. Flows, screens, states, and the edge cases that never appear in a portfolio shot: empty, loading, partial, failed, and the long tail of real data.
  • Interfaces for probabilistic systems. AI output is not deterministic. You will design how a system streams an answer, shows what it is doing and why, expresses confidence and uncertainty, and lets a user verify or correct it. There is little established pattern language here, so you will be defining it.
  • Real-time and voice experiences. Conversational and voice-driven interfaces where timing, feedback, and interruption are part of the design rather than an afterthought.
  • Dense, information-heavy surfaces. Dashboards and analytical views where the job is to make complexity legible for people who use the product all day, not to simplify it away.
  • The design system, alongside the Design Lead. Components, tokens, and the typographic and spacing foundations, built in Figma so they translate cleanly into code rather than needing reinterpretation.
  • Bilingual design at system level. Arabic and English as genuinely equal experiences: mirrored layouts, correct Arabic typography and numerals, type scales that work across two scripts with different rhythms and no shared italic convention. This is one of the hardest and most interesting parts of the job.
  • Motion with intent. Transitions and micro-interactions that communicate state and causality, specified precisely enough to be built as designed.
What good looks like here
  • Typography is treated as a primary tool, not a setting. You have opinions about type scale, measure, and optical alignment, and you can defend them.
  • Spacing and layout follow a system you can articulate, and the system holds up under pressure rather than being abandoned on the hard screens.
  • Restraint. You know what to leave out, and your interfaces do not decorate to appear designed.
  • Your files are structured well enough that another designer or an engineer can pick them up without asking you what anything means.
  • You design the whole thing, including the states nobody screenshots.
Tool stack
  • Core design: Figma at depth, including variables and modes, component properties and APIs, auto layout, library architecture, and Dev Mode for handoff.
  • Prototyping: Figma prototyping for flows, with ProtoPie or Framer where an interaction needs real logic, timing, or conditional state to be evaluated properly.
  • Design systems and tokens: Tokens Studio for token management, feeding a Style Dictionary pipeline maintained with our frontend engineers. Semantic token architecture, theming, and multi-mode systems that support both language directions.
  • Motion: Rive or Lottie for production motion, authored so engineers implement what you designed rather than approximating it. After Effects where the pipeline calls for it.
  • Typography and localisation: Arabic and Latin type pairing, variable fonts, type scales that hold across two scripts, RTL mirroring, bidirectional text behaviour, and font licensing suitable for embedded and offline distribution.
  • Accessibility: WCAG 2.2 AA as a working standard, contrast and colour tooling such as Stark, keyboard and screen reader flows considered at design time rather than retrofitted.
  • Vector and assets: Illustrator, Affinity, or equivalent for icon and mark work, custom icon system design, SVG optimisation, and asset formats that survive offline bundling.
  • Frontend literacy: enough React, Next.js, Tailwind, and CSS logical properties to design within real constraints, read a component implementation, and have a precise conversation about why something rendered differently than drawn.
  • Collaboration and documentation: Figma Dev Mode alongside Storybook, Git and GitHub at the level of reviewing a token or component change, and clear written specs and design system documentation.
  • Research and validation: usability testing and structured critique, with tools such as Maze or UserTesting where the question warrants it.
  • Exploration: whatever gets you to a better answer faster, including AI tooling for early ideation, provided the final work is deliberate rather than generated.
Level and scope

Mid to Senior, roughly five or more years designing digital products. What matters is the work: we will hire a designer with four years and an exceptional portfolio over one with ten and a competent one. You will own the design of your assigned product areas, work directly with product managers and engineers, and have real influence on what gets built, not just how it looks. This is a craft role with a path to grow.

Must-have
  • A portfolio of shipped product work with visible craft: considered typography, deliberate spacing and hierarchy, and interfaces that hold up when you look closely. This is the primary filter and we will look carefully.
  • Depth in Figma, including component architecture, variables, and building for reuse rather than assembling one-off screens.
  • Experience designing complex or information-dense applications rather than only marketing sites or simple consumer apps.
  • Design systems experience: you have built or meaningfully contributed to one and understand tokens, not just component libraries.
  • Ability to explain your decisions. You can walk through why a layout is the way it is, in terms a non-designer can follow, and change your mind when the argument is better.
  • Comfort working closely with engineers, and interest in how the thing actually gets built.
  • Based in the UAE or willing to relocate to Dubai, and comfortable working on-site.
Nice-to-have
  • Arabic or RTL design experience, including Arabic typography. Arabic language ability is a plus but not required.
  • Design for AI products: conversational interfaces, streaming responses, agent transparency, or voice.
  • Motion design produced to a production standard using Rive or Lottie.
  • Accessibility practice against WCAG standards, which our public sector deployments require.
  • Enterprise, government, or other complex operational software, where users are trained and constraints are real.
  • Data visualisation and dashboard design at scale.
  • Ability to build a working prototype in code, or comfort in a design engineering role.
  • Experience designing under offline constraints, including font licensing and asset bundling.
Why join

Very little software in this region is designed to the standard we are aiming for, and the products here are worth the effort: AI systems that people use to make real decisions, in a language pairing most design teams never seriously attempt. The Arabic and English problem alone is a body of work most designers never get to do properly.

You will work alongside an engineering team that cares about implementation fidelity, on a design system being built from the foundations rather than inherited. Your work ships into real government and enterprise environments across the GCC rather than into a backlog, and you will be close enough to the engineering to see it built the way you drew it.

Compensation and logistics

On-site in Dubai. Compensation is competitive and benchmarked to your experience and the UAE market. The package includes UAE employment visa sponsorship, medical insurance, and annual leave and flight allowance per UAE labour law and company policy. Relocation support is available for candidates joining from outside the UAE. Xpin AI hires on demonstrated ability and welcomes applicants from all backgrounds.

How to apply

Send your portfolio. For this role it matters more than anything else on your CV, so lead with your best three to five pieces of shipped product work rather than everything you have made. We want to see the reasoning as well as the outcome: what the problem was, what you tried, what you cut, and what you would change now. Case studies with process beat galleries of finished screens. If you have a personal project that represents your ceiling better than your client work does, include it. We review portfolios properly and will give you a real response either way.
