Frontend Developer Intern

Blue Oak Consulting is currently supporting a European financial services firm as it expands its digital operations and internal reporting tools. This role focuses on building and refining the frontend interfaces that help our clients visualize complex financial data and make informed commercial decisions.

The Role
This position is fully remote, giving you the chance to contribute to a distributed team while learning how software tools serve high level financial goals. You will work closely with our technical leads to build and refine the frontend components used by our clients to monitor their capital and growth metrics. Unlike many development roles that focus only on aesthetics, this position requires a keen interest in how data flows and how users interact with complex information. You will spend your time turning mockups into code and ensuring that every interface element serves a specific, regular, and logical purpose.

What You Will Be Doing

• Developing clean and functional UI components using modern web technologies.
• Translating financial data models into interactive charts and dashboards for client use.
• Testing user interfaces for logical consistency especially when handling large financial datasets.
• Participating in team code reviews to maintain high standards of technical discipline.
• Collaborating with the backend team to ensure data is displayed accurately and efficiently.
• Building prototypes that allow our team to test commercial assumptions with clients.
• Identifying and resolving layout issues to ensure a smooth experience for the end user.
• Documenting technical workflows to support the long term maintenance of internal tools.

What You Bring

• A solid foundation in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript basics.
• Basic experience or familiarity with a web framework like React, Vue, or Angular.
• A degree or ongoing studies in a field like Computer Science, Information Technology, or Web Design.
• A direct and skeptical approach to problem solving where you look for the root cause of an issue.
• The ability to communicate technical concepts clearly without falling back on corporate jargon.
• Strong attention to detail, especially when it comes to checking data accuracy across the UI.
• Independence and reliability in a fully remote work setting.
• An interest in the financial sector or how business economics work.
