Cloud & Security Engineer โ Fully Remote (U.S.)
Our client, a mission-driven organization delivering community-based services across a major U.S. metro region, relies on technology to strengthen coordination, efficiency, and quality of service. They're hiring a Cloud & Security Engineer to help maintain, secure, and enhance their Microsoft 365 and Azure environment as part of a cloud-first strategy.
In this role you'll partner with infrastructure, support, security, and application teams to improve service delivery, elevate the user experience, and keep cloud systems secure and reliable. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator, an adaptable problem solver, and a continuous learner who can translate technical concepts into practical guidance and balance innovation with stability, compliance, and security.
What you'll do:
- Administer Microsoft 365 workloads โ Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive, Teams, and Teams Phone โ plus related collaboration and productivity tools.
- Support Entra ID, including conditional access, phishing-resistant authentication, RBAC, identity governance, and privileged access.
- Manage Intune device enrollment, compliance policies, endpoint security, and application deployment.
- Support Purview data protection: DLP, sensitivity labels, retention, and information governance.
- Administer SaaS access and governance across the Microsoft identity stack, including enterprise apps, service principals, API permissions, and secure integrations.
- Support Azure infrastructure, governance, secure configuration baselines, and least-privilege access.
- Monitor, investigate, and respond to alerts and incidents across Microsoft Defender; assist with SIEM, threat detection, and root cause analysis.
- Support vulnerability management, patching, hardening, and configuration management across endpoints and servers.
- Support secure adoption and governance of Microsoft Copilot and other AI-enabled platforms.
- Maintain technical documentation, security baselines, and control evidence, and support audit readiness against recognized security frameworks.

What you'll bring:
- 3โ5 years supporting enterprise cloud infrastructure or security operations.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft 365, Entra ID, Intune, Defender, and Azure administration.
- Experience with conditional access, endpoint compliance, and secure access management.
- Scripting and automation with PowerShell, Microsoft Graph, Logic Apps, or similar tools.
- Familiarity with Purview, data protection, and information governance controls.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Copilot, AI governance, and secure adoption practices (strongly preferred).
- Familiarity with Teams Phone, VoIP, and collaboration platform support.
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage priorities in a fast-moving environment.
- Ability to work independently in a remote role while collaborating across distributed U.S. teams.
