My client is America’s largest supplier of building materials, value-added components and building services to the professional market. They are currently seeking a 100% remote Senior Engineer, IT – Disaster Recovery to join its Corporate Cybersecurity (Security Operations) team. This senior-level engineering role is responsible for designing, implementing, and continuously improving enterprise disaster recovery and cyber resilience capabilities that protect critical business systems across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments. The ideal candidate will combine deep technical expertise in disaster recovery architecture, backup and replication technologies, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity with the ability to lead enterprise recovery testing, collaborate across IT organizations, and ensure the business can rapidly recover from cyber incidents, system failures, or natural disasters while meeting stringent recovery objectives.


Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement enterprise Disaster Recovery (DR) and resilience architectures across on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments.
  • Engineer and maintain backup, replication, failover, and failback solutions to ensure critical business systems meet Recovery Time Objectives (RTO) and Recovery Point Objectives (RPO).
  • Plan, coordinate, and lead disaster recovery exercises, including tabletop, functional, and full-scale failover testing, while driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Monitor, maintain, and optimize disaster recovery infrastructure, including backup health, replication, data integrity, automation, and recovery runbooks.
  • Partner with Cybersecurity, Infrastructure, Cloud Operations, Application Owners, and Business Continuity teams to strengthen enterprise resilience and recovery readiness.
  • Perform technical risk assessments, troubleshoot complex recovery issues, support audits and compliance initiatives, and recommend innovative disaster recovery technologies and best practices.


Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience in cybersecurity, systems engineering, cloud engineering, infrastructure engineering, or disaster recovery.
  • Hands-on experience administering enterprise disaster recovery, backup, replication, and systems recovery platforms such as Veeam, Rubrik, Cohesity, or Commvault.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud), virtualization technologies (VMware/Hyper-V), enterprise storage, and networking concepts supporting disaster recovery.
  • Experience designing and executing disaster recovery testing, validating recovery procedures, and meeting business continuity objectives for RTO/RPO compliance.
  • Working knowledge of NIST security frameworks, business continuity planning, identity resilience, and enterprise security best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, documentation, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills with the ability to lead complex disaster recovery initiatives and mentor technical team members.
