Understory is building the software that experience businesses run on. We help experience businesses run and grow in one place: manage operations, accept payments, build beautiful websites, and drive incremental bookings across channels. AI is built in to make delivery reliable and scalable, but the point is simple: give hosts more time to deliver great experiences, with less admin and commercial overhead.

This is not the average job post, and we are not the average company. To explain why, let us introduce you to one of the people we build for.

Meet Laura. She is a kind, creative, positive soul who loves to cook and loves teaching others to cook, so she started a company offering cooking classes for locals and tourists. The venue is authentic and beautiful, her taste is unique and welcoming, and every class is thoughtfully designed. The bookings start to tick in, from people she knows, from views on Instagram, from word of mouth. It works. Laura gets to do what she loves, creating strong memories for people from all over the world.

But she is also starting to struggle. Managing participants. Hiring and training instructors. Chasing invoices. And underneath all of it sits the pressure that never lets up: making sure more bookings arrive tomorrow than today.

That last pressure is the one that compounds every other. Solving it well takes strategy, constant marketing execution, and steady iteration, and almost no host has the time to run it themselves or the budget for an agency to run it for them. There are hundreds of thousands of Lauras across Europe and beyond, and no one has built them a real answer to it yet. That is what Understory Studio is for.

About Understory Studio

Studio takes marketing off Laura's plate and turns it into reliable bookings. We turn marketing into software. We talk to the customer, set the strategy, and run the work across paid social, paid search, email, and reviews. AI does most of it, with a light human touch. For the customer, it replaces the agency and the pile of separate tools with one service that costs less and runs more reliably.

At the core of Studio is how we deliver the work. It connects what we sell, what we build, and what the customer gets. We build it by running it ourselves first, with AI doing the heavy lifting rather than a finished product. Real delivered work, like updated listings or fresh ad creative, is the proof it works. Whatever turns out to repeat gets built into the product.

We are looking for a founding operator to own that engine end to end: run delivery yourself with AI to learn how it really happens, measure what works, and turn the repeatable parts into software. When that path succeeds, the parts that last become part of the product.

You will not be building it alone. This role works in unusually close partnership with our CEO and founder and our VP of Product, both of whom are actively building Studio alongside you. A team of an additional four people has already driven the initial proof of concept, and we are preparing to more than double that investment as we scale Studio. In this role, you are key to making that investment pay off.

This is a rare chance to build a business inside the business: own the commercial outcome, build the engine that delivers it, and set the template for how Understory turns service into software.

What you will own

  • The delivery loop: own how a Studio sale turns into more bookings. Good delivery proves the value, that value keeps customers and grows them, and each round makes the whole thing stronger.
  • From service to software: with the product team, decide what repeatable work becomes software and what stays a hands-on service. You own the discovery and the priorities behind those calls.
  • Internal tools you build: start by wiring up lightweight AI tools yourself, then work with the product team to turn the ones that prove out into real product. Either way, delivery gets faster and more reliable, so we can do more without hiring at the same pace.
  • A clear, predictable picture of the business: one shared view, built with revenue operations, plus the delivery and customer data that tells you what to build next.
  • Studio's commercial result, shared: you share one growth goal with sales, the CS expansion team, and the product team, and you own the packaging, pricing, and delivery that make it possible. You shape how the offer comes together, how customers see its value, and how the expansion team gets what it needs to succeed.

This is just the starting point. How far the role grows is up to you and what you prove you can own.

What success looks like

Studio is already pulling clear interest from customers. The next step is to make it repeatable and ready to scale.

Because of that, your first 90 day focus should be to:

  • Take the lead on the delivery engine we have already started, and run each step yourself with AI. Document the work so the repeatable parts can become software.
  • Pilot the first AI-native way of running Studio's operations.
  • Show early proof that the Studio process repeats, across qualifying customers, packaging, and delivery.
  • Build and maintain one shared view of how Studio is doing, covering both the work delivered and the revenue it brings, together with revenue operations.

Within The First Year

  • Studio discovered new needs from customers - and delivered productized solutions
  • Studio has proven worth a 5 to 10x bigger investment

What we are looking for

Two Competencies Sit At The Center Of This Role

  • A builder's mindset: you use AI to build your own tools and go from idea to working solution fast. This is a role for an AI-native operator, a vibe coder who can get AI to build whatever the job needs. You see repeatable work as something software can do, and you make that happen.
  • Commercial instinct: you understand customers and value, you know how to package, price, and sell a motion that scales, and you turn what you learn from customers into what gets built.

Beyond Those

  • You turn messy, unclear work into systems that repeat, building each win into a process that lasts.
  • You operate with real autonomy and prefer building to managing.
  • You are comfortable hands-on in an early, fast-moving venture where the path keeps changing.

How You Will Work And Who You Work With

  • You report into product leadership and sit within the product team, which keeps the path from idea to production short.
  • You start as a hands-on senior operator without direct reports, leading the Studio motion that a dedicated expansion team within Customer Success runs alongside you.
  • You work in close partnership with the founders, product, sales, and revenue operations, and you share a single growth goal with that expansion team.
  • Office-first, with at least four days per week in the office.
  • Based in Aarhus, Copenhagen, or Barcelona. Relocation support is available.
  • Start date as soon as possible, with flexibility for the right candidate.
