Junior Database Administrator - Production Support

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support database operations and maintenance activities in production environments under supervision.
• Learn and follow operational procedures, including backup, recovery, monitoring, and incident management.
• Assist in troubleshooting database-related issues and analyzing system performance.
• Participate in production support activities and adhere to established operational stand-ards.
• Collaborate with Senior DBAs, SREs, and engineering teams to ensure database reliabil-ity and availability.

REQUIREMENTS

Must have:

A. SQL & Data Fundamentals

• Solid understanding of basic to intermediate SQL, including: SELECT, JOIN, GROUP BY; Subqueries; Common Table Expressions (CTE); Window Functions (preferred)
• Basic understanding of: Indexes; Primary Keys (PK) and Foreign Keys (FK); Constraints; Database normalization
• Ability to read and analyze SQL queries, with basic query optimization skills.
• Experience using EXPLAIN or similar query execution analysis tools is a plus.

B. System Fundamentals

• Basic knowledge of Linux/Windows systems, including: Processes and memory management; Disk and file systems; File permissions; Log analysis; Service management (e.g., systemd); Basic Bash scripting
• Understanding of fundamental networking concepts: TCP/IP; DNS; Ports; Firewall/Security Groups; Network connectivity troubleshooting
• Awareness of system performance bottlenecks, including: CPU utilization; Memory consumption; Disk I/O; Latency

Nice to have

• 4+ years of experience in a DBA role.
• Strong system administration or infrastructure knowledge.
• Exposure to database performance tuning, monitoring, or production database support.
