About Tacit

We are an early-stage, deep tech startup based in San Francisco, developing innovative hardware that rethinks human-computer interaction. We are backed by General Catalyst, Khosla Ventures, and Greylock Partners, with a founding team from Stanford, BrainGate, Oculus, and Tesla. While we can’t reveal too much just yet, our team is tackling cutting-edge engineering challenges to bring revolutionary products to life.

About The Role

We are looking for a Recruiter to help hire the engineers and operators who will build our consumer hardware products. You’ll work closely with founders, leadership, and technical teams to hire across hardware, software, ML/AI, and G&A.

This role is well suited for someone who enjoys highly technical searches, can build trust with engineering candidates, and wants to help shape the team behind an ambitious hardware product within the constraints of a stealth-stage company.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with leadership, and technical teams to understand hiring priorities, scope roles, and anticipate needs as our roadmap evolves.
  • Own full-cycle recruiting across hardware, ML research, software, and product management.
  • Build targeted pipelines through sourcing, referrals, talent mapping, and long-term candidate nurturing.
  • Write personalized, concise outreach that resonates with highly technical candidates.
  • Run a fast, organized, candidate-friendly process from first touch through close.
  • Keep hiring teams aligned by driving clear communication, timely feedback, debriefs, and decisions.
  • Use market insight and candidate signals to inform search strategy, leveling, compensation, and closing.
  • Partner with hiring managers to build structured, fair interview loops that maintain a high bar and reduce bias.
  • Manage candidate data, pipeline health, and recruiting reporting in Ashby.
  • Help shape Tacit’s employer story and represent the company with clarity, discretion, and genuine excitement.
  • Partner with operations, HR, and Finance on offers, onboarding, and immigration or visa coordination as needed.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of full-cycle recruiting experience, ideally with a strong track record hiring technical talent.
  • Proven ability to build pipeline from early talent mapping through offer close, especially in competitive markets where creative sourcing and persistence are required.
  • Experience sourcing, engaging, and closing passive candidates through targeted, personalized outreach.
  • Strong technical fluency, with the ability to understand engineering roles and assess candidate fit at the screening stage.
  • Experience partnering directly with hiring managers, technical teams, and leadership to define hiring needs, guide searches, and keep decisions moving.
  • Data-informed approach to recruiting, with comfort using funnel metrics to assess progress, report on pipeline health, and adjust strategy when needed.
  • Strong communication, listening, organization, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Comfort operating in a fast-moving environment where priorities, role definitions, and processes evolve over time.
  • Hands-on experience with a modern ATS and sourcing tools.
  • Motivated to help build Tacit while continuing to grow your own recruiting craft and career.

  • Experience recruiting for hardware, deeptech, or product companies.
  • Experience building recruiting processes, programs, or systems from the ground up in an early-stage or high-growth startup.
  • Experience recruiting under stealth, confidentiality, or IP-sensitive constraints..
  • Experience supporting immigration or visa processes for technical hires.
  • A strong existing network within Bay Area engineering communities.

Compensation Range

$140,000 - $180,000 plus significant equity.
