Job Description

Our client is a recently funded, fast-growing SaaS company in the restaurant and hospitality space building technology that helps operators run smarter, leaner, and more profitably. With fresh capital in the bank, they are now investing in the product, the customer base, and the team that will carry them into their next stage of growth.

They are remote-first, fast-moving, and close to the operators they serve. What they need now is a hands-on technology leader to help build what is next and to be a true partner in shaping where the company goes.

The Role

This is a role for a builder, not a figurehead.

As CTO, you will set the technical direction and own the product roadmap, the architecture, and the engineering standards. But in these early days, you will also be in the work itself writing code, reviewing pull requests, solving the hardest problems directly, and setting the pace for a small, high-output team.

You will be the strategic partner to the leadership team on everything technology and product, helping translate the company’s vision into something real, reliable, and scalable. This is building mode. If you want to lead from a distance, this is not the fit. If you want to roll up your sleeves and create something that matters in an industry hungry for better tools, keep reading.

What You’ll Do

  • Own the technical vision, architecture, and product roadmap in close partnership with the founding and leadership team
  • Stay hands-on — write code, review pull requests, and tackle the hardest technical challenges alongside the team
  • Hire, build, and lead a lean, talented engineering team as the company scales
  • Make pragmatic decisions about the stack, infrastructure, and priorities — balancing speed today with durability tomorrow
  • Turn the real needs of restaurant and hospitality operators into product that is genuinely useful
  • Be a thought partner on where emerging technology, including AI, can meaningfully accelerate the product and the business
  • Set the engineering culture, practices, and standards that will carry the company through its next phase

What We’re Looking For

  • A hands-on technical leader (CTO, VP of Engineering, Founding Engineer, or similar) with proven startup experience
  • A track record of building products from the ground up not just maintaining them
  • Experience across both large and small companies: you have seen how things scale, and you know how to operate lean
  • Comfort in a fast-paced, high-ambiguity environment where priorities shift and speed matters
  • Architectural foresight — you build for today’s needs while keeping tomorrow’s scale in view
  • A genuine builder’s mindset: you are energized by shipping, not by org charts

  • Ideally: direct experience in restaurant, hospitality, or food-service technology especially at a startup

What Our Client Offers

  • Competitive salary and meaningful equity — you will own a piece of what you build
  • Full benefits package
  • Unlimited PTO
  • 401(k) with company match
  • 100% remote, with a culture built on trust, autonomy, and output
  • A real seat at the table — you will partner directly with leadership on the company’s biggest decisions
  • The chance to bring better technology to an industry that runs the world but has long been underserved by it
