Job Description


Ancient Remedies is a DTC wellness brand built around a flagship product, now scaling a recurring-revenue mobile product alongside it: a personalized wellness app on iOS and Android with a freemium/premium subscription model. The app is live, has acquired its first paying subscribers organically before any marketing has been switched on, and is now the long-term retention engine of the wider business. We're hiring a Head of App to own it end-to-end.


This role owns:


  • Product roadmap for the app, across 3/6/12-month horizons
  • Subscription P&L: pricing, plans, trials, free-to-paid conversion
  • Mobile engineering team via the Engineering Manager — code quality, sprint cadence, hiring, performance
  • Experimentation programme on paywall (RevenueCat) and feature surfaces (Firebase)
  • UX direction and Figma design system; briefs designers
  • App Store Connect, Google Play Console, compliance (DSA, GDPR, privacy, OAuth)
  • Mixpanel analytics, cohort and funnel reporting to leadership
  • Cross-functional partnership with Retention/CRM, ecommerce, and the external email/SMS agency



The Team: They'll inherit an existing engineering team with room to build it out wherever they see gaps.


Reports to: Director of Retention


The right person is obsessed with optimization and the process side of it — someone who instinctively sets up the systems, rituals, and scorecards that guarantee continuous improvement across every surface they own, from free-to-paid conversion to cohort retention to release discipline. They've owned a consumer subscription mobile product before across both stores, ideally at comparable scale, with measurable P&L outcomes to point to — not just feature PM work. They've led mobile dev teams through an engineering manager and are technically credible enough to step in and lead the team directly when needed — comfortable directing AI coding agents as part of how the team ships, even if they're not writing production code themselves. They live in the data — MRR, churn, free-to-paid, LTV — and can walk through their experimentation programme and prioritization framework in the first call. Comfortable managing a distributed team across time zones and design-literate enough to direct a Figma file.



Must-haves:


  • 6+ years in mobile product leadership; 3+ owning consumer subscription apps on iOS and Android
  • Track record of measurable P&L outcomes — conversion, retention, or LTV moved by your decisions
  • Real engineering leadership experience (directly or via an EM); shipped under real deadlines
  • Technically fluent in the modern stack: React Native/Expo, Supabase (or similar), RevenueCat. Read code, scope work, call BS — even if you don't write production code
  • Comfortable directing AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor) as part of how the team ships
  • Deep fluency with App Store Connect, Google Play Console, and platform compliance
  • Strong design sensibility; can direct designers in Figma
  • Real A/B testing discipline — decisions made from data
