DevOps Engineer (Python/AWS)
Full-time
Salary: $130k-$150k + 15% bonus
Location: Remote (must be US based)

In this role, you will spend the majority of your time developing and maintaining backend services and deployment automation using Python and Git-based workflows. You will be responsible for building scalable AWS-native applications, improving CI/CD pipelines, enhancing monitoring and reliability, and partnering closely with Product and Engineering to deliver secure, high-performing healthcare solutions.

Key Responsibilities
Build and Maintain Backend Services
- Design, develop, and support Python-based backend services and APIs that power Evio’s healthcare products.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code using GitHub (or similar source control platforms) as part of daily development.
- Collaborate with Product and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
- Contribute to application architecture and technical design decisions.
Own DevOps and Cloud Infrastructure
- Design and manage AWS cloud infrastructure using services such as Lambda, ECS, Step Functions, S3, RDS/Aurora, CloudWatch, and IAM.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines to automate testing, deployments, and infrastructure changes.
- Improve system monitoring, alerting, logging, and operational visibility.
- Support production deployments and troubleshoot application and infrastructure issues.

Drive Reliability and Operational Excellence
- Optimize system performance, scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
- Implement infrastructure-as-code and automation to reduce manual processes.
- Establish best practices for release management, environment configuration, and incident response.
- Continuously evaluate tools and recommend improvements to engineering workflows.
Collaborate Across the Organization
- Partner with Product, Data, and Analytics teams to support evolving product requirements.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions to maintain high engineering standards.
- Mentor team members and contribute to a culture of transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Required Skills and Experience
- Healthcare industry experience required
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in software engineering, DevOps, or platform engineering roles.
- Strong Python backend development experience, with hands-on coding as a significant portion of the role (60%+).
- Extensive experience with GitHub or similar source control and collaborative development workflows.
- Proven experience building and managing CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
- Strong AWS experience with cloud-native application and infrastructure development.
- Experience with monitoring and observability tools such as CloudWatch, Datadog, or similar.
- Experience supporting production systems, troubleshooting incidents, and improving reliability.
- Product-focused mindset with experience working closely with Product Managers and cross-functional teams.
