Senior Data Architect

As a Data Architect, you will design and evolve enterprise data architecture to support a modern data platform, enabling unified data access, advanced analytics, and AI capabilities. You will define standards, models, integration patterns, and governance to ensure scalability, security, and reliability, while supporting AI initiatives with high-quality data pipelines. You will collaborate closely with engineering, architecture, product, and AI teams to shape the overall data ecosystem.

This role is available only in Romania and involves an employment contract (CIM), fully remote.

Responsibilities

• Define and maintain the enterprise data architecture vision, principles, and standards
• Design and evolve scalable data platforms (lakehouse architectures, semantic layers)
• Develop and maintain canonical and domain-driven data models
• Architect data layers (e.g., bronze, silver, gold) and ensure consistency of analytical datasets
• Design and implement data ingestion frameworks (batch, streaming, API, event-driven)
• Define reusable integration patterns for internal and external systems
• Ensure data pipelines are reliable, observable, and cost-efficient
• Establish data governance frameworks (metadata, lineage, quality, access control)
• Ensure compliance with security, privacy, and regulatory requirements

• Define standards for sensitive data handling and secure data access
• Enable AI and advanced analytics by designing high-quality data structures and pipelines
• Support processing of structured and unstructured data for analytics and AI use cases
• Collaborate with engineering, architecture, product, and AI teams
• Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance
• Participate in architecture reviews and governance processes
• Stay current with data, analytics, and AI trends and drive continuous improvement

Requirements

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
• 7+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or similar roles
• Strong experience with modern data platforms and lakehouse architectures
• Expertise in ETL/ELT pipelines and data modelling

• Proficiency in SQL and Python
• Experience with cloud-based data platforms (e.g., Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake or similar)
• Data governance, metadata management, and security best practices

• Exposure to AI/ML data preparation (e.g., unstructured data, vectorisation) is a plus
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to work across cross-functional teams
