Job Description
If you’re an ambitious product designer who cares about your craft and wants your work to have a real impact on people’s lives, we’d love to hear from you.
About LOCHBY
We make tools that help people create—from notebooks to bags and organizers. In a noisy digital world, we focus on building useful products that help you do more and consume less. Our motto: Keep Creating.
About the Role
We’re looking for a Product Designer with experience in soft goods to help bring new product ideas to life. This role is highly hands-on and blends creative design thinking with technical execution. You’ll be working on everything from early-stage concepts to detailed tech packs ready for production.
You should be comfortable thinking through both the big picture (look, feel, and function of a product) and the small details (construction, stitching methods, hardware choices, and trims).
Growth opportunity
We’ve grown 5x over the past two years. As you dive deeper into designing journals, notebooks, and organizers, you’ll have the opportunity to take on increasing ownership — from a Senior Product Designer role to broader product leadership as the team continues to scale.
What You’ll Do
Product Design & Ideation
- Research and develop ideas for new soft goods products
- Define the overall look, feel, and design direction of products
- Translate concepts into clear, production-ready design direction
- Contribute to problem-solving around product functionality and usability
Technical Design & Execution
- Create detailed tech packs based on sketches, requirements, and notes
- Produce approximately 1 new tech pack per week (initially)
- Revise and refine existing tech packs based on feedback from internal team and factories
- Solve small construction challenges (e.g. how materials are folded, stitched, or layered to achieve the intended shape and function)
