Senior Engineer, Test and Automation

2. About the Opportunity:

The Senior Engineer, Test and Automation role is focused on developing and maintaining robust automation testing frameworks and CI/CD pipelines to enable reliable and frequent software releases. This position plays a critical role in ensuring product quality and operational excellence by embedding a quality-first culture and expanding automated test coverage across a complex, multi-service software environment.

3. Responsibilities:

• Own and enhance CI/CD pipelines, including quality gates, test stages, deployment checks, and failure alerts within GitHub Actions workflows.

• Define and enforce standards for pipeline execution and test result reporting.

• Design and implement scalable automated testing frameworks for integration and end-to-end tests across backend, frontend, database, and cloud infrastructure.

• Increase automated test coverage, focusing on integration and end-to-end layers.

• Collaborate with engineers to integrate automated tests into CI workflows.

• Analyze and address flaky tests, slow pipelines, and production issues to improve reliability and release confidence.

• Develop and maintain test plans, quality metrics, and documentation to align teams on coverage.

• Advocate for automated testing and continuous quality improvement throughout the organization.

• Participate in on-call rotations and uphold operational standards.

4. Requirements:

• Minimum 5 years of experience testing web-based applications in a professional setting.

• Proven hands-on experience designing, maintaining, and improving CI/CD pipelines, preferably with GitHub Actions.

• Strong software engineering skills, including proficiency in Python and SQL, and familiarity with TypeScript/React.

• Experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks across frontend, backend, and database layers.

• Familiarity with web automation tools such as Playwright, Selenium, or BrowserStack.

• Deep understanding of test pyramid strategies in fast-paced release cycles.

• Strong problem-solving, communication, and independent working abilities.

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.

• Preferred: familiarity with AI-assisted development tools, and experience with the organization''s technology stack and testing tools.

5. Pay Range and Compensation Package:

• The base salary range for this role is $160,000 to $200,000, determined based on experience, skills, job family, and U.S. work location.
