To us, that means putting care and purpose into our hiring process, providing meaningful development and training opportunities for our team members, and living our core values every day.
CareerPlug is proud to be an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering a diverse team. Our leadership takes responsibility for creating a safe and welcoming environment built on inclusion and respect for all.
Who are we looking for?
The Senior DevOps Engineer at CareerPlug is the trusted owner of the infrastructure and systems that our engineers and customers depend on every day. This role exists to give infrastructure the dedicated ownership and attention it deserves and ensure our engineering team can ship confidently and reliably. As our engineering team leans into AI-augmented development, this role will play a meaningful part in shaping the environments and infrastructure that make that work fast, safe, and reliable.
You'll span platform engineering, site reliability, and developer experience, owning everything from cloud infrastructure, CI/CD pipelines, and local development environments. This role is largely self-sufficient, but deeply collaborative: you'll work closely with our Principal Engineer and Platform Engineering Manager to keep production systems healthy, secure, and always improving.
Senior DevOps Engineers at CP learn quickly, raise the bar on reliability and security, and are always looking for ways to improve the systems and processes that enable great engineering work.
What technologies do we use?
AWS (EC2, RDS/PostgreSQL, Redis, OpenSearch), Docker, CircleCI, GitHub Actions, Ruby on Rails, AI Coding Tools (Claude, Cursor, Codex, Kilo Code, etc)
Job Responsibilities:
- Own and operate CareerPlug's AWS infrastructure, keeping production systems healthy, secure, right-sized, and cost-effective
- Manage and improve CI/CD pipelines (CircleCI, GitHub Actions) to ensure fast, reliable builds and deploys for product engineers
- Contribute to the infrastructure that supports AI-augmented development, ensuring development environments stay reliable and well-suited as our use of AI coding tools expands
- Own local development environments and staging environments, ensuring engineers can set up and trust their environments for daily work
- Monitor alerting and observability infrastructure; respond to on-call incidents and conduct post-incident reviews that drive real improvements
- Write clean, well-documented infrastructure-as-code, pipeline configurations, and automation scripts
- Proactively communicate infrastructure changes, system health, and risks clearly to engineering leadership

Own the Infrastructure. Within 3–6 months of joining, the Senior DevOps Engineer will own infrastructure operations largely independently. This means going deep on the current state, understanding not just what exists, but why it was built that way, and proactively identifying and addressing what needs improvement. We're looking for someone who takes genuine ownership and acts on it.
Enable the Team. The best DevOps work is invisible to product engineers: fast pipelines, reliable environments, systems that just work. Every hour an engineer spends fighting their local environment or waiting on a flaky build is an hour not spent delivering value to customers. The Senior DevOps Engineer keeps the whole engineering team moving by removing friction from development, deployment, and day-to-day operations proactively. As the engineering team increasingly works with AI coding tools, this role will also help shape the environments and infrastructure that support that work.
Improve Continuously. Every incident is a learning opportunity. Every pipeline failure is a chance to prevent the next one. We don't just fix things and move on. We ask why something broke, what we can do differently, and how we can make the system more resilient over time.
Benefits:
- Work from home (we're fully remote)
- Employer Paid Health Insurance
- Unlimited PTO (with minimums!)
- One-week paid PTO (pre-start date)
- Life Insurance
- Long Term Disability
- Pet Insurance
- Home Office Stipend
- 401(k) Company Match
