Job Description
Job Description
We are theprintspace - a fine art printing and dropshipping company with a small but genuinely global team. We have around 65 people across London, Düsseldorf, New York, and India, and we combine technology with craftsmanship to support artists, photographers, and creatives in sharing their work with the world. You can learn more about what we do at theprintspace.com and theprintspace.co.uk.
We are a growing company, which means we are still figuring things out in many areas. We try to be honest about that. What we do know is that we care about our people, and we want to build an HR function that reflects that.
Why we are hiring
We are looking for an HR Manager to take ownership of our people operations across all four of our locations. This is a standalone role, and the person who joins us will be an important part of how we grow and look after our team. We are not expecting perfection - we are expecting someone who is thoughtful, dependable, and genuinely interested in making things work better for the people around them.
What the role involves
Day to day, you would be the main person our team turns to for anything people-related. That includes:
- Managing onboarding and offboarding across all our locations, so that joining and leaving the company is a smooth experience for everyone
- Coordinating payroll with our regional providers in the UK, Germany, US, and India - making sure everything is accurate and people are paid on time
- Keeping us compliant with employment laws across our regions, which we know is no small thing
- Running our recruitment process from start to finish - writing job descriptions, shortlisting candidates, organising interviews, and supporting hiring managers along the way
- Being the first point of contact for employee questions and concerns, and handling them with care and discretion
- Supporting our managers in running structured performance and probationary reviews
- Helping us build and maintain the processes and documentation that keep a distributed team connected and well-organised

What we are looking for
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- Around 5+ years of HR experience, ideally including time in a generalist or standalone HR role
- Some familiarity with employment law or HR practice in at least one or two of our regions — UK, Germany, US, or India
- Experience working with payroll providers or coordinating payroll across locations
- Confidence running end-to-end recruitment, even in a busy environment
- Good organisational skills and the ability to manage several things at once without things slipping
- A degree of comfort working remotely and across time zones
We do not expect you to have everything on this list. If you feel you have the right foundation and the right attitude, we would still like to hear from you.
Who will thrive in this role
This role will suit someone who:
- Is comfortable being the only HR person in the room — you enjoy the variety, and you do not need a large team around you to do good work
- Likes building things from scratch — whether that is a process, a policy, or a way of doing something that did not exist before
- Handles sensitive situations with maturity and calm, even when things are complicated or uncertain
- Communicates clearly and honestly — with employees, managers, and external providers alike
- Takes initiative without waiting to be told, but also knows when to ask for input
- Cares about doing the right thing for people, not just following procedure

If you have worked in a small or growing company before and found it energising rather than stressful, you will likely feel at home here.
What you'll get
- A fully remote role with genuine flexibility in how and where you work
- The opportunity to shape the HR function of a growing global company — this is not a role where things are already decided for you
- A close-knit, communicative team that uses Slack throughout the day and video calls often — remote, but never isolated
- The chance to work across four countries and build experience in multi-jurisdictional HR that is genuinely rare at this level
- A company that is honest about where it is in its journey, and values people who want to grow alongside it
- Competitive salary, discussed openly during the process
How we work
Our team is fully remote but very connected. We use Slack throughout the day and jump on video calls often — it genuinely does not feel like a remote job most of the time. We try to communicate openly, support each other, and give people the space to do their best work.
We are growing, and we want someone who will grow with us. If you are looking for somewhere to bring your experience, learn new things, and genuinely contribute to how a company looks after its people, we think this could be a good fit.
