This time, we are looking for a Senior PHP Backend Developer to help further develop and improve the messaging platform and marketing software solutions of our partner Spotler Group. You will work closely with engineering teams based in the Netherlands, Germany, and the United Kingdom.

Your role

As a Senior PHP Backend Developer, you will join the Messaging domain within Spotler Group. This domain is responsible for processing and delivering millions of messages across multiple communication channels every day. Performance, scalability, throughput, reliability, and fault tolerance are critical within this environment.

You will work on high-performance backend systems that manage asynchronous processing and distributed workloads using queue-based architectures. Your focus is on designing, building, and improving robust backend services that process millions of messages and support business-critical communication flows. You will contribute to architectural decisions, platform improvements, and system modernisation while working closely with other experienced backend engineers.

·        Bi-weekly refinement sessions

Engineers within the team actively contribute to technical discussions, architectural improvements, and long-term platform decisions.

What you bring

·        At least 6 years of experience in backend development with PHP

·        Strong experience with Symfony or similar frameworks

·        Experience building and scaling backend systems

·        Experience with asynchronous processing and message queues such as RabbitMQ

·        Solid understanding of software architecture and distributed systems

·        Experience working on SaaS platforms

·        Experience with unit and end-to-end testing

·        Comfortable working with both modern and legacy systems

·        Ability to balance pragmatism with technical quality

·        Good level of English
