The Role
We are looking for a Backend Engineer to join us on a part-time B2B contractor basis (up to 20h/week).
This role is ideal for someone highly autonomous, product-minded, and comfortable working in fast-paced startup environments. You will contribute to the evolution of our backend architecture, scalability initiatives, integrations, automation systems, and AI-powered internal tooling.
This is not a “ticket factory” role. We are looking for someone proactive, technically strong, and capable of owning projects with minimal supervision.
Because of operational and timezone requirements, candidates must currently reside in the UAE and hold a valid UAE residence visa with long-term availability in the country (minimum expected residence through 2027/2028).
What You’ll Be Doing
- Develop and maintain scalable backend services and distributed systems.
- Build new product features and improve existing platform capabilities.
- Work on cross-functional technical initiatives with direct business impact.
- Improve reliability, scalability, observability, and performance across our infrastructure.
- Contribute to architectural decisions and technical improvements.
- Build integrations with third-party systems and external APIs.
- Automate repetitive engineering and operational workflows whenever possible.
- Collaborate closely with product, operations, and leadership teams.
- Own your code from development to production deployment.
- Help improve internal engineering efficiency using AI-assisted development workflows.

- 4+ years of backend engineering experience in production environments.
- Strong experience with Python and Django ecosystems.
- Experience building and maintaining distributed or microservice-based architectures.
- Strong understanding of APIs, scalability, reliability, and backend best practices.
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and DevOps workflows.
- Ability to work independently and communicate clearly in remote environments.

- Good product and business understanding — not just technical execution.
