About the Opportunity

The Data and Power BI Engineer is a leadership-level technical role responsible for the architecture and integrity of the organization’s data environment. You will lead the development of the Power BI semantic model, establishing a "single source of truth" across the enterprise. This fully remote position requires a proactive professional who can translate complex business needs into robust data solutions, ensuring the organization is fully prepared for next-generation AI insights.



Responsibilities

  • Power BI Ecosystem Ownership: Own and enhance the full reporting environment, including the development of sophisticated dashboards, reports, and datasets.
  • Data Modeling & Architecture: Design and maintain scalable star schema data models and standardized reporting structures to ensure high performance and clarity.
  • Pipeline Engineering: Build and troubleshoot data pipelines; ingest, clean, and validate data from diverse sources including APIs, SQL, Salesforce, and financial systems.
  • Strategic Partnership: Collaborate with Finance, IT, and Operations to define core business KPIs, reporting logic, and data definitions.
  • AI Readiness: Prepare and structure datasets specifically for future integration with AI, automation, and predictive analytics tools.
  • Governance & Security: Manage the Power BI Service ecosystem, including refresh schedules, access control, deployments, and strict data confidentiality standards.
  • Advanced Transformation: Utilize Power Query and M code for complex data shaping, deduplication, and performance tuning.



Requirements

  • Professional Experience: Minimum of 4 years in business intelligence, data engineering, or analytics engineering.
  • Technical Mastery:
  • Expert-level experience in developing Power BI semantic models and dashboards.
  • Deep proficiency in DAX and Power Query (M).
  • Strong background in building and maintaining scalable data models (Star Schema).
  • Systems Knowledge: Hands-on experience with data pipelines, dataflows, and integrating cloud applications via APIs and SQL.
  • Analytical Ability: Proven ability to translate abstract business requirements into technical reporting and data solutions.
  • Work Style: Ability to work independently and maintain high standards of documentation and data governance in a remote-first environment.
