We are a Snowflake Services Partner with active engagements across the US, Middle East, and Asia, serving financial services, sovereign investment, and large enterprise clients.

THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are hiring a Data Governance Expert for a multi-year enterprise data program at our UAE-based sovereign wealth investment client in Abu Dhabi. You will be deployed onsite at the client site, embedded in their Data & AI organisation, reporting to the client's Data Governance Lead. Your daily stakeholders are domain stewards from HR, Finance, Procurement, and Digital.

The client's data platform is built on Microsoft Fabric. Microsoft Purview is the central governance instrument you will own on a day-to-day basis.

NON-NEGOTIABLE REQUIREMENTS — please do not apply if you do not meet ALL of these

1. Minimum 8 years of hands-on experience in Data Governance, Data Management, or Information Management in a business-facing capacity. Pure data engineering, BI, or analyst backgrounds without governance ownership do not qualify.
2. Hands-on production experience with Microsoft Purview OR Collibra OR Alation. Theoretical knowledge, tutorials, or certifications alone do not qualify — you must have configured, operated, and maintained one of these tools in a live enterprise environment.

3. Demonstrable experience building and maintaining an enterprise Business Glossary — not just using one, but driving the definition, approval, and adoption process with business stewards.
4. Hands-on experience with Data Classification and PII Tagging at enterprise scale, and working knowledge of at least one major privacy regulation (UAE PDPL, GDPR, DPDP Act, CCPA, or equivalent).
5. Proven experience facilitating working sessions with non-technical business stakeholders — you can run a Finance or HR steward workshop unsupervised and produce clear actions.
6. Willingness and ability to relocate to Abu Dhabi, UAE on a long-term onsite assignment (minimum 18–24 months). Valid passport with 12+ months of residual validity. No UAE visa blacklist history.
7. Immediate availability to begin visa processing. Current notice period of 30 days or less strongly preferred.

WHAT YOU'LL OWN

• Operational delivery of the client's Enterprise Data Governance Program using Microsoft Purview and OneLake Catalog
• Building and maintaining the enterprise business glossary across HR, Finance, Procurement, and Digital domains
• Facilitating working sessions on profiling review, glossary updates, PII tagging, and data/document classification
• Embedding governance policies aligned to UAE PDPL and GDPR

• Supporting domain stewards with data cleansing, duplicate identification, and access governance
• Producing the monthly DG Council pack — KPIs, glossary coverage, tagging progress, classification status
• Documenting every process and producing a clean handover pack

NICE TO HAVE (not mandatory, but a meaningful advantage)

• Microsoft Purview certification
• DAMA-CDMP or Collibra Ranger / Steward certifications
• Exposure to Microsoft Fabric Lakehouse and OneLake Catalog architectures
• Prior experience with BFSI, sovereign wealth, or government clients
