The Role

We are looking for a hands-on Data Scientist who wants to use Python to implement statistical models for the purposes of credit underwriting, risk management, and forecasting. You will learn a ton about fintech in this role and there are significant career growth opportunities at Pipe. Your key responsibilities will include:


  • Working with senior scientists to use statistical modeling to forecast our cash flows and other drivers of business health.
  • Designing and building models to optimize the company’s product offerings.
  • Proactively exploring datasets to uncover insights, and prototyping new models that provide value to our customers.
  • Deploying and monitoring model performance, in close collaboration with engineering.


Qualifications

We are looking for a motivated, curious Data Scientist with the following qualifications:


  • Experience developing machine learning models and tasks such as model training, evaluation, and deployment.
  • Proficiency in Python and tools such as NumPy and Pandas to manipulate data.
  • Working knowledge of coding tools such as GitHub, VS Code, and similar.
  • Sound fundamentals in probability, statistics and machine learning.
  • Comfortable collaborating with others and communicating progress, decisions, and results clearly.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in one of: Computer Science, Financial/Applied Math, Statistics, Economics, or a related technical field. Masters is a plus but not required.
  • As a bonus, prior experience with credit risk modeling or underwriting would be great.
