Job Description

At Tucuvi, we help healthcare organizations ensure every patient receives timely high-quality care, augmenting clinical teams with AI.

Our clinical-grade AI Care Management platform automates and orchestrates high-volume workflows end to end, combining autonomous AI agents—including LOLA, our Voice Clinical Agent—with workflow logic, escalation, documentation, and seamless integration into existing health system infrastructure. Built for trust and clinical reality, Tucuvi is the first Class IIb Software as a Medical Device (SaMD)–approved AI platform for Voice AI driven patient management.

Today, we support 50+ care pathways across 60+ healthcare organizations, delivering up to 80% automation of nursing workflows, >90% patient engagement, and improved clinical outcomes. We recently raised $20M in Series A funding to scale across Europe and the US.

CONTEXT

We are over 50 people across EU, UK the US and we are growing. We are hiring across multiple teams and expect to continue scaling significantly through the year and beyond.

Today, People at Tucuvi is run by a small, capable team that has built solid foundations: a structured hiring process, multi-country payroll, a dual-path career ladder with a performance review framework What we need now is a leader who can take this foundation and turn it into a scalable, metric-driven function that works as reliably at 100 people as it does at 50.

We are looking for a People Director who will join our leadership team and report directly to the CEO. The opportunity is to build the organizational foundation that will take Tucuvi from 50 to +100 people, preserving what makes us good and actively making us better.

What You’ll Do

Your mission is to translate Tucuvi’s business strategy into organizational capability — owning the people strategy that shapes how we hire, how we develop leaders, how we make decisions about structure, and how we maintain a strong culture through rapid growth and international expansion.

What To Expect During Your First Months With Us

During your first month:

You will go through a structured onboarding to understand Tucuvi’s strategy, team, tools, and current People processes. You will spend time with the CEO, the founders, and the full leadership team — understanding where we want to go and what kind of organization we are trying to build, as well as with the COO and the existing People team to map what is in place.

By the end of month three:

You will own the hiring pipeline and ensure the current wave of open positions is progressing on track. You will have a clear diagnosis of where People Operations needs improvement. You will have reviewed the existing People metrics and begun evolving them — adding organizational health indicators alongside the operational ones already in place. Most importantly, you will have formed a point of view on the organizational questions ahead of us and begun having those conversations with the leadership team.

After 6-12 months:

A predictable hiring engine will be running. Every core People process will be documented, repeatable, and not dependent on any single person. Individual goals will be in place for every team member, a manager enablement program will be running, and training development plans will exist for key people. You will have a clear proposal for how Tucuvi’s organizational structure needs to evolve for the next phase of growth. A live People intelligence dashboard will track not just operational metrics, but leading indicators of organizational health.

Responsibilities

As People Director, you will be responsible for:

  • Owning the People function end to end across Talent Acquisition, People Operations, and Talent Development.
  • Leading and developing the People team, currently composed of a People and Culture Associate and supported by external partners.
  • Leading Talent Acquisition strategically: workforce planning connected to business capacity, sourcing management, hiring process execution, employer branding, candidate experience, and compensation design.
  • Running People Operations: multi-country payroll coordination (Spain, Portugal, UK, US), contracts and legal compliance, onboarding, offboarding, regulatory obligations, HRIS and tooling, supplier management, remote infrastructure, Tucudays logistics, and process building.
  • Running Talent Development: career framework reinforcement, performance reviews, individual goal-setting, compensation reviews, L&D and training investment, manager enablement, and retention.
  • Building and maintaining a People intelligence dashboard covering both operational metrics and organizational health indicator, reviewed regularly with trend data and industry benchmarks.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulatory obligations, including those triggered by having more than 50 employees in Spain.
  • Representing the People function on the Management Team, contributing to company-level decisions alongside the other Directors
  • Co-architecting Tucuvi’s culture with the founding team — building the systems, rituals, and feedback loops that turn our values from an aspiration into a measurable operating system.
  • Leading organizational design: as Tucuvi scales, owning the conversation about structure, management layers, reporting lines, and how the organization needs to evolve.
  • Owning succession planning for critical roles and building leadership bench strength internally.

With Whom You Will Work

We are a remote-first company, but here, no one works alone.

You will report directly to María, CEO. You will work closely with Sofia, People and Culture Associate, who will be your go-to person during onboarding and your key partner in the team. You will also collaborate closely with all Directors and hiring managers across the company, and with external partners including sourcing agencies, payroll providers, benefits suppliers, and legal advisors.

Requirements

To thrive in this role, you should have:

  • More than 10 years of experience in People, HR, or Talent functions, with significant exposure to the full scope of the function: talent acquisition, operations, and development. You do not need to have led every vertical yourself, but you should have been close enough to the whole picture to know how the pieces connect and where things break when a company grows.
  • Proven experience in fast-paced startups or scaleups. You have lived the journey from a small team to a much larger one and you understand what changes at each stage: what processes hold, what breaks, and what needs to be built before it becomes urgent.
  • A performance architect mindset. When the company sets an ambitious growth target, your first instinct is to ask: what does that mean for our organizational capability? What do we need to build, hire, and develop to make that possible? You translate business strategy into people strategy.
  • Experience with multi-country employment, ideally across Spanish and US jurisdictions. You understand that payroll in Spain is not the same as payroll in the US, and you know how to manage that complexity without it becoming a bottleneck.
  • Strong people analytics capability. You build dashboards that go beyond operational reporting — surfacing leading indicators of organizational health before they become problems. Experience as a strategic partner to a CEO or founding team, with a voice in People decisions and organizational design.
  • Fluent in Spanish and English. Based in Spain. The position is fully remote, with occasional travel for Tucudays (our company-wide gatherings, at least three times per year, typically in Madrid) and team coordination.

What we would love to see:

  • Experience in B2B SaaS, healthtech, or healthcare.
  • Familiarity with HRIS and async communication tools. the tools we use: Notion, Factorial, Nailted, Docusign, Cobee.
  • Experience designing career frameworks, compensation philosophies, or manager enablement programs.
  • A track record of growing a company from a few dozen people to well over a hundred, owning recruitment, payroll, compliance, onboarding, culture, and engagement along the way.

Above all, we are looking for someone who genuinely cares about the people around them. Not in an abstract way, but in the day-to-day: someone who notices when a process is creating friction for the team and fixes it, who takes pride in a new hire having a great first week, who believes that giving people honest feedback and real opportunities to grow is one of the most generous things you can do. We need someone who brings warmth and rigour in equal measure, because at Tucuvi we believe those two things make each other better.
