About the Role
The People Business Partner role supports the scaling of people infrastructure in a fast-growing, operations-focused organization. This position partners with Clinical and Operations leaders to enhance manager effectiveness, organizational design, performance systems, employee relations, and overall team health. The role contributes by improving people programs and infrastructure, enabling teams to grow with greater clarity and support, and driving strategic people initiatives that align with business goals. This is a fully remote role (PST required) reporting to the Manager, People Business Partners.
Responsibilities
- Partner with Clinical and Operations leaders to develop people strategies that support growth, team effectiveness, and organizational health
- Coach managers on performance management, employee relations, team development, engagement, and retention
- Support and enhance key people programs including performance reviews, talent assessments, succession planning, and organizational planning
- Lead and contribute to cross-functional projects that improve business operations such as policy updates, job descriptions, organizational design, and process improvements
- Align people strategies with company and team objectives to drive execution and outcomes
- Identify organizational risks, talent gaps, and manager support needs, recommending proactive solutions
- Guide leaders through change management during scaling or reorganization
- Collaborate with Employee Relations to monitor trends, surface risks, and improve manager support
- Use data and business context to inform recommendations and resolve complex people issues
- Ensure compliance with employment laws, policies, and practices for a distributed workforce

Requirements
- 5+ years of HR or People experience, including roles as a People Business Partner or HR Business Partner
- Experience supporting large, non-exempt employee groups, preferably in healthcare, clinician-facing, or licensure-driven settings
- Strong knowledge of California labor laws and HR best practices
- Startup experience, preferably in Seed to Series B companies undergoing rapid growth
- Effective business partnership skills with credibility across operational teams
- Proven ability to coach managers in performance management, employee relations, team effectiveness, and organizational change
- Experience building or improving people programs and infrastructure
- Strong project management and execution skills with the ability to shift between strategic and detailed work
