About The Role

The HR & Operations Associate (Part-Time, Remote) position is a vital role designed for a highly organized and analytical professional interested in expanding their expertise within Human Resources and Operations. Reporting directly to the HR department, this role offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in multi-state HR compliance, remote workforce management, contractor administration, and internal systems support. The ideal candidate will support core HR functions such as compliance tracking, documentation, onboarding, and policy updates, while also assisting with operational processes including data management, process documentation, and research activities. This role is perfect for individuals who are intellectually curious, detail-oriented, and eager to develop a comprehensive understanding of HR and operational workflows within a distributed organizational structure.

Qualifications

  • College degree from an accredited institution, preferably in Business, HR, Operations, Economics, or a related field
  • 3-5 years of HR experience within a multi-state organization
  • Familiarity with Gusto HR/Payroll platform
  • Knowledge of time-tracking programs such as Harvest
  • Strong analytical and structured thinking skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities
  • High level of discretion and professionalism
  • Excellent written communication skills
  • Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment
  • Willingness to learn, adapt, and accept feedback
  • Must be able to pass a background check
  • Preferred to reside in Los Angeles County

Responsibilities

  • Assist with multi-state compliance tracking and maintain accurate documentation
  • Support the organization and confidentiality of employee records
  • Coordinate onboarding processes and track checklists for new hires
  • Monitor state-specific employment law requirements and inform management accordingly
  • Contribute to policy and employee handbook updates
  • Maintain internal tracking spreadsheets and dashboards for operational oversight
  • Assist with contractor documentation, agreements, and compliance tracking
  • Support payroll and benefits administrative tasks, ensuring smooth operations
  • Organize and manage document libraries through scanning and filing
  • Contribute to process documentation and Standard Operating Procedures development
  • Conduct research on employment law updates and compliance requirements
  • Support the development of operational tools and compliance trackers
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and operational efficiencies
  • Assist in creating scalable documentation frameworks for organizational growth
