As Associate Director, HR Generalist, you will ensure the seamless execution of core HR functions across a multi-state environment, directly impacting employee experience and organizational integrity. You will manage high-volume workflows such as payroll, benefits, and leave administration while maintaining strict compliance with employment regulations. The role also involves supporting employee relations processes and improving operational efficiency through continuous process optimization. Working in a remote-first environment, you will collaborate closely with leadership and serve as a trusted point of contact for HR-related inquiries. Accountabilities

  • Oversee end-to-end payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across all pay cycles
  • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and employee communications
  • Manage leave and accommodation processes (FMLA, ADA), ensuring compliance and seamless employee experience
  • Ensure multi-state tax compliance, including employer registrations and adherence to jurisdictional requirements
  • Maintain accurate and audit-ready HR records across systems, ensuring data integrity and consistency
  • Support employee relations processes by preparing documentation for performance management, disciplinary actions, and terminations

Requirements

  • 5 to 7+ years of experience in HR operations, payroll, benefits administration, or HR compliance
  • Proven experience managing HR processes in a multi-state environment
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and compliance requirements
  • Hands-on experience with leave and accommodation management, including FMLA and ADA
  • Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy across multiple systems and workflows
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage recurring high-volume processes
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to identify process improvements and leverage tools, including AI-enabled solutions, to increase efficiency
  • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment with occasional travel requirements
