The Olympic Region Manager is a mission-critical position for DYNW that oversees retail operations, partner relations, manages stock ordering and distribution, and assures high performance at retail operations throughout the trio of partnerships on and around Washington state’s Olympic Peninsula. The Olympic Region Manager is based in Port Angeles, WA, and is directly responsible for the success of multidisciplinary facets of DYNW’s operations in their portfolio of locations. Partnered locations include Olympic National Park, Olympic National Forest, and San Juan Island National Historical Park.

- Ensuring effective onsite retail operations and personnel management at retail locations across a distinct geographic area.
- Maintaining positive, productive relationships with DYNW’s public lands manager partners including Forest Service, and National Park Service.
- Providing comprehensive resource and recreation information to visiting members of the public.
- Working closely with DYNW’s CEO for operational consistency, sustainability, and forecasting.
- Working closely with DYNW’s Director of Retail Operations for a cohesive, united approach to retail scope, ordering, stocking, and pricing.
- Collaborating as needed with DYNW’s Director of Retail Operations to ensure continuity of service for purchase ordering in case of vacation, absence, illness, etc.
- Working closely with vendors to create compelling retail items within each partnered unit’s Scope of Sales Statement.
- Working with vendors to place Purchase Orders.
- Evaluating, training, and managing existing DYNW staff. Recruiting and training new and returning staff. Maintaining a high standard of customer service in public and partner facing activities.
- General staff training and scheduling.
- Conducting and/or overseeing annual inventory, monthly inventory reporting, and daily cash handling.
This position reports directly to the CEO of Discover Your Northwest.
Direct Reports
Assistant Branch Manager, Information Clerks/frontline staff.
Collaborates with:
- Olympic National Forest Branch Manager reports to the Olympic Region Manager for merchandise related initiatives, ordering, transfers, and design.
- Director of Retail Operations and Olympic Region Manager will coordinate orders and collaborate as needed to ensure pricing structure and purchase orders are sent efficiently and accurately, ensuring that a relevant, engaging scope of merchandise is displayed in a neat, attractive manner and adequately stocked in the sales area as well as backstock held in storage to meet the sales needs of each site.
- Maintaining well organized, inventoried, and fully labeled inventory at all branches under their purview.
- Implementing and (where needed) updating/developing DYNW’s Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistent efficiency in operations.
- Leveraging basic business acumen.
- Conducting general cash handling and cashiering.
- Inventory management, reporting, and conducting annual inventory count at each location
- Product ordering, strategic purchasing to maximize return on budgeted expenditures, and product design.
- Identifying compelling merchandise with a relevant value to public lands that maximizes sales.
- Extensive collaboration with public lands managers onsite as well as DYNW staff throughout the Pacific Northwest.

- Sales data compilation, interpretation, and reporting.
- Leveraging moderate to advanced computer skills for Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, as well as understanding of email, word processing, spreadsheets, cloud storage platforms, proficient typing and positive interpersonal communication skills.
- Salesforce experience preferred.
- Digital Point of Sale (POS) experience preferred.
- Multiple site visits to each location throughout annual operational season(s).
- Physically assist with conducting and thoroughly documenting onsite annual inventory, delegate and/or offer digital support where practical.
- Remotely assist frontline staff and agency partners with connectivity and POS troubleshooting
- Ensure site sales reports and deposits (where applicable) are completed expeditiously and accurately, assist and complete sales reports and deposits where necessary.
- Ensure locations are staffed with trained DYNW frontline staff, volunteers, and/or agency partners (location depending) to offer a full publicfacing schedule throughout the operating season(s).
- Frequent and direct collaboration with the administrative team at DYNW’s Seattle Support Office.
- Direct report onboarding, training, review, and scheduling.
- Onsite visits to DYNW retail locations to assist branch managers and/or public partners with updating and improving sales areas, fixtures, signage, and sales floor flow.
- 46 training sessions will be offered to selected candidate to maximize training on this important position. Training sessions will take place on mutually agreed upon dates throughout 2026 to show seasonal operational needs and will be compensated on an hourly basis, with travel and lodging also included.

- Walk and stand for extended periods—up to 3,000 steps per day (approximately 1.5 miles).
- Stand/walk for up to 6 consecutive hours during retail and public service activities with intermittent seated work for data entry, meetings, and cashiering as needed.
- Lift up to 50 lbs occasionally and 25 lbs frequently, including bending, squatting, reaching (up to multiple times per hour), and climbing short ladders.
- Work in variable temperature and weather conditions, including outdoor areas where surfaces may be hot, wet, or slippery, and indoor spaces that can be humid or damp.
- Use computers and pointofsale systems for up to 8 hours per day for data entry, reporting, and communications.
- Drive between primary work location in Port Angeles, WA, and secondary working locations throughout Washington’s Olympic Peninsula and San Juan Islands (via Washington State Ferries). Intermittent overnight travel required for some destinations.
- Regular leveraging of short and longterm memory for internal processes, retail procedures, and specialized terminology.
- Apply moderate math skills for sales reporting, cash reconciliation, and trend recognition.
- Exercise spatial awareness for merchandise display and inventory organization.
- Maintain attention to detail, memory recall, and problemsolving skills in a multitasking retail setting.
- Communicate clearly and effectively in person, in writing, and by phone or email.
- Follow written procedures and maintain compliance with organizational and federal safety policies.
- Perform work safely, consistently, and without undue health risk to self or others.
- This position requires a high level of cooperation with Federal agency staff. As a cooperating partner to public lands managers throughout the Olympic Peninsula, DYNW’s partnerships are strategically critical to our business model and to advancing our mission and staff that serve as positive ambassadors for the organization are paramount.
- Position includes travel for attending trade and product shows to select and design compelling merchandise.
- Working conditions include climate controlled locations such as office and sales floor as well as locations with limited or no climate conditions such as warehouse space, storage area, and exterior locations in varying weather conditions and temperatures.
- Work on weekends and some holidays required.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
