About The Role
We are seeking a talented Software Engineer, Security Observability, to join our dynamic Security team. In this role, you will be instrumental in building secure, scalable systems that enhance OpenAI’s security observability infrastructure. Your primary focus will be on designing and developing software solutions that enable real-time security monitoring, data collection, and forensic analysis. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including Detection & Response (D&R) and other security units, you will help reduce security risks and improve our ability to detect and respond to threats effectively. This position offers the flexibility of remote work or the opportunity to relocate to our offices in San Francisco, Seattle, or New York City with relocation assistance provided.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in software engineering, with proficiency in programming languages such as Python, Golang, or similar.
- Experience with infrastructure as code, including tools like Terraform.
- Hands-on experience working with cloud platforms such as Azure.
- Strong background in building and maintaining data pipelines, especially for security-related data.
- Familiarity with data engineering practices supporting forensic investigations and compliance.
- Generalist engineering mindset with the ability to pivot across domains like databases, site reliability engineering (SRE), and security.
- Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with security and engineering teams.
- Proactive problem-solving skills with attention to detail and a focus on enhancing security data visibility.

- Design and develop scalable, secure software systems that facilitate security observability across our infrastructure.
- Build and maintain data pipelines that centralize and store security-relevant data from multiple sources.
