What You Will Do Day To Day
Sr OpenShift Engineer with an emphasis in OpenShift Container Platform, Kubernetes orchestration, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, CI/CD pipelines, and hybrid cloud infrastructure. The Specialist will provide advanced support for containerized workloads as well as lead initiatives to optimize platform reliability, scalability, and security. This individual builds, manages, maintains, supports, troubleshoots, and optimizes the OpenShift environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Architect, design, and build highly available, secure, and scalable OpenShift clusters across on‑prem, hybrid, or multi‑cloud environments.
- Lead end‑to‑end cluster lifecycle: installation, upgrades, capacity planning, backup/restore, and decommissioning.
- Own major incident management for OpenShift, including deep‑dive troubleshooting, RCA, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Define and enforce OpenShift platform standards, governance, and best practices for multi‑tenant workloads and CI/CD.
- Design and implement automated cluster operations (provisioning, patching, scaling, DR) using Infrastructure as Code and GitOps (Ansible, Terraform, etc.).
- Guide application teams on onboarding, containerization patterns, routing, ingress, storage, and security controls on OpenShift.
- Implement and tune monitoring, logging, alerting, and performance optimization for large OpenShift estates.
- Mentor and technically lead junior engineers; conduct design and code reviews related to OpenShift platform changes.

- 7–10+ years in infrastructure/DevOps/SRE, with 4–5+ years hands‑on in Red Hat OpenShift (v4) cluster build and administration.
- Expert-level understanding of Kubernetes concepts (nodes, pods, controllers, networking, storage, operators) and OpenShift-specific implementations.
- Proven experience building and operating production OpenShift clusters at scale, including networking, security (RBAC, SCC, image policies), and storage integrations.
- Strong Linux (RHEL) administration and scripting skills (Bash/Python) for automation and troubleshooting.
- Hands-on experience with GitOps and CI/CD tooling (Argo CD, Jenkins, GitLab CI, or similar) for application and platform deployments.
- Experience with observability stacks (Prometheus, Grafana, EFK/ELK) for platform health and capacity management.
- Exposure to at least one major cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP) and integration of OpenShift with cloud-native services.
- Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration (EX280) or higher-level OpenShift Architect–track certifications.
- Experience in designing OpenShift for regulated or mission‑critical environments with strong security and compliance requirements.
- Background in migration of workloads to OpenShift (VM-to-container, monolith-to-microservices, or datacenter/cloud migrations).
