Mid-Level Engineer for Edge Security Operations and AWS Infrastructure

Role Description

We are adding a mid-level engineer to our infrastructure team to support edge security operations and the AWS infrastructure behind them. This role focuses on operating and improving our Cloudflare security posture and AWS infrastructure managed via Terraform, while also providing practical, data-driven technical support to non-technical teams.

This is a hands-on, operational role suited to someone who enjoys keeping systems stable, secure, and well-documented, and who can translate technical signals into useful business insight.

Core Responsibilities

• Edge Security & WAF Operations (Primary Focus): Assist in designing, tuning, and operating Cloudflare WAF and traffic-shaping rules. Execute established traffic-shedding protocols to prioritize mission critical services during DDoS events or API surges.
• AWS Infrastructure: Work within an existing Terraform codebase to provision, maintain, and adjust AWS resources, following established patterns and with senior guidance where needed, to ensure consistency across environments and deployments.

• Security & Compliance: Support ongoing compliance efforts such as SOC2 by following established controls, documenting infrastructure changes, managing least-privilege IAM access, and assisting with audit evidence collection using tools and external guidance where appropriate.
• Operational & Support Analytics: Act as a technical bridge for the Support team. Analyze operational and guest-facing datasets using spreadsheets, for example identifying behavior patterns in booking or cancellation data, to help improve support outcomes and internal decision-making.

What We Are Looking For

• 3+ years of IT or Development experience.
• Hands-on Cloudflare experience, especially WAF rules and traffic sanitisation
• Strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills.
• Ability to remain calm under pressure and make sound decisions quickly.
• Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for learning.
• Fluent in English (native or high business level)

Preferred Qualifications

• Comfort working in production environments and responding to operational issues
