About the Job

This role is being recruited by CoffeeSpace on behalf of Forge (https://withforge.com/), a Series A AI automation startup backed by OpenAI and Founders Fund, working with some of the world’s largest enterprises.

We’re helping Forge identify a small number of high-caliber engineers from our network who meet the bar for this role. If there’s a strong fit, you’ll start with an initial conversation via CoffeeSpace before speaking directly with the Forge founding team.

Forward Deployed Engineer (Full-Stack)

Location: San Francisco or New York (in-person)

Compensation: $150k-$220k base + competitive equity

Visa sponsorship: Available

Forge is building the next layer of human-computer interaction – using AI to automate the most complex manual processes inside large companies.

As a Forward Deployed Engineer, you’ll work directly with enterprise customers to understand how their operations actually run, then build production-grade AI automations that replace hours of human work with reliable software.

This is a high-agency, high-ownership role that sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and customer execution.

What you’ll do

• Conduct deep process mining with customers to break down ambiguous workflows

• Build robust automations using Forge’s AI + English-based programming model
• Architect solutions that scale reliably from pilot to full production
• Work directly with customer teams to iterate, deploy, and drive adoption
• Own deployments end-to-end, from discovery through rollout
• Define best practices that shape how Forge deploys to future customers

Expect roughly 60% technical work / 40% customer-facing work.

The ideal candidate

You’re likely a strong fit if you:

• Have real-world software engineering experience (full-stack or backend-leaning)
• Can build and reason about end-to-end systems, not just isolated components
• Enjoy talking to users and explaining technical ideas clearly
• Thrive in ambiguous, fast-moving environments
• Take ownership of outcomes, not just tasks

Backgrounds that tend to do well:

• Forward Deployed / Solutions Engineers with strong technical depth
• Founding engineers or ex-founders
• Software engineers who’ve moved into product, consulting, or customer-facing roles

There’s no strict minimum years of experience – Forge optimizes for ability, judgment, and intensity.
