Job Description

Location: Perth, WA (Hybrid)

Work Type: Part-time (minimum 2 days/week during study) or Full-time (if recently graduated)

Build What Matters — With Purpose, Data, and Technology

At Clear Carbon, we develop software solutions that enable industries to decarbonise and transition to a low-carbon future. We’re on a mission to record and remove one gigatonne of emissions. If you want your code to cut real-world carbon, join our fast-growing team and shape solutions that matter to industry and the planet.

Our platform is trusted by Australia's leading miners, energy providers, and property groups — and we're scaling rapidly.

We're seeking outstanding Graduate Engineers to join this mission.

The opportunity

We’re hiring two early-career engineers (Software, Data or AI focus) to design, build and run production features across our platform:

  • Design, code, test and secure cloud-native services, data pipelines and APIs.
  • Apply DevOps best practice — CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code, automated testing and observability.
  • Integrate AI/ML models and Energy Insights engines that turn fuel and telemetry data into actionable decarbonisation signals.
  • Optimise performance, scalability and reliability on Azure.
  • Work in cross-functional squads, shipping value in short Agile cycles.

You’ll be mentored by seasoned engineers (average 20 years’ experience) and see the full SDLC from architecture to production.

About you

You're in your second year or beyond (or recently graduated) in Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field. You possess:

  • Solid grasp of object-oriented design and modern software practices.
  • Strong technical foundations in software, data, or AI/ML development.
  • Curiosity to explore new technologies and ask insightful questions.
  • A collaborative mindset and clear communication skills.
  • A drive to make real-world impact through your work.
  • Perth-based with Australian work rights; international students require a valid visa (post-study sponsorship may be considered).

Technical Foundations We Value

You don't need to tick every box, but experience with the following will help you thrive here:

  • Programming & Frameworks: C#, .Net (core or 8) or React. Proficiency in C#, .NET (Core or 8), React, and SQL (MS SQL or similar). Candidates should be strong in at least one of C# or React and have intermediate familiarity with the other. Additional experience with TypeScript is advantageous.
  • AI & ML: Pandas, Scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch, basic NLP
  • Cloud & DevOps: REST APIs, Git, Azure, Azure Functions, Azure Logic Apps, CI/CD, Containerisation
  • Data: MS SQL (essential), MS Excel (advanced) and Cosmos DB.

Why Clear Carbon?

  • Purpose with impact: your code helps eliminate gigatonne-scale emissions.
  • Competitive graduate package: market-aligned salary and super; student engineers can convert to full-time roles upon graduation.
  • Rapid learning: daily exposure to senior engineers, data scientists and ESG specialists.
  • Modern CBD office: light-filled workspace in the heart of Perth with onsite barista, end-of-trip facilities and breakout zones, plus flexible WFH options.
  • Hybrid balance: sustainable 37.5-hour week that respects study commitments.
  • Growth pathways: tailored development plans and annual learning budget for courses, certs and conferences.
  • Innovation culture: quarterly hack-days to explore new ideas and sharpen skills.
  • Inclusive workplace: diverse perspectives welcomed and valued.

Work arrangement & eligibility

  • Part-time: minimum two days per week during study, or
  • Full-time: if recently graduated and available immediately.
  • Post-study visa sponsorship may be offered to high-performing graduates.
