Why this role matters
The Network Engineer is a new position being created to manage the safeguarding of the trading infrastructure network in line with business goals and objectives. This is a highly collaborative position whose ultimate goal is to drive experiments and research with a team of professional analysts and programmers to deliver low and ultra-low (ULL) latency solutions for trading.
As a Network Engineer, you will be maintaining the Exness network across multiple production environments and the corporate environment.
The role is based in our Limassol office, Cyprus. In case of relocation, we offer full relocation support for you and your family to make your move smooth and worry-free.
What you'll actually do
- Work directly with the Trading and Infrastructure units to drive pricing and trading solutions development and improvement
- Develops and implements the architecture and infrastructure of connections to data sources and exchanges
- Serve as a hands-on technical expert working directly with delivery teams to provide guidance on network and problem resolution
- Traffic flow analysis and modeling
- Participates in all aspects of technical research, planning, and documentation for assigned projects and issues
- When the design phase is completed and the solution goes to production, ensuring its smooth operations, providing documentation and tools for management and monitoring
- Capacity planning. Detect congestion problems. Guarantee latency predictability. Think in terms of microseconds and nanoseconds.
- Understand data protection and disaster recovery technologies in a multi-site environment
- Create automation for repeating tasks
Technical / Hard Skills:
- At least 5 years of experience in networks design and operations
- Industry certification by any network vendor or equivalent to CCNP experience
- Hands-on experience with network monitoring, including open-source products
- Advanced knowledge in the technologies below:
- TCP/IP stack (including multicast)
- Hands-on experience in design and operations of L2-3 networks based on Cisco or any other major network manufacturers (Brocade, Huawei, etc.)
- In-depth understanding of switching and routing protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP
- Latency optimized hardware (at least in one of the areas: networks, servers, memory, storage). Like Exegy XERO, Myricom, etc.
- Time synchronization protocols (NTP, PTP) and high-precision time sources
- Understanding how to build a high-precision hardware timestamping system for traffic for trading environments
- Understanding the Linux network kernel subsystem, its turning and performance analysis
- Experience with low-latency networks and real-time network technologies
- Any scripting languages (Powershell, Bash, Python, etc.) and / or programming basics
- Understanding of containerization (Docker) and cloud services (AWS)
- Administration of Linux and Windows systems
- Solid understanding of the functional and operational practices necessary to operate in a highly available environment to meet business requirements;
- Knowledge of Network Modeling
