YAP MEDIA NYC is hiring a YouTube Growth Specialist to lead the organic growth strategy across our YouTube ecosystem. In this role, you will own channel packaging, performance optimization, clips channel expansion, and data-driven experimentation to increase views, subscribers, and engagement across multiple channels.


In just two years, YAP Media has become one of the top networks for business and self-development podcasts, securing sponsorship deals with major brands like Airbnb, LinkedIn, Shopify, the International Olympic Committee, and more. As our network scales, organic growth is one of our highest-leverage opportunities. We are seeking a proactive, analytical, and performance-obsessed operator who understands how to engineer growth through aggressive optimization and experimentation.


You will be ultimately responsible for driving measurable increases in CTR, retention, views, and subscriber growth across our channels, without relying on paid spend. To succeed, you must think strategically about algorithm behavior, move quickly based on data, manage creative packaging processes, and continuously test new growth levers.

Responsibilities

  • Channel Optimization & Packaging. Lead end-to-end management of thumbnail production for Simulcast channels. Develop repeatable thumbnail frameworks designed to increase click-through rate. Write high-conversion, SEO-optimized titles and descriptions that balance discoverability and curiosity. Implement structured A/B testing frameworks for thumbnails and titles, document findings, and build internal playbooks based on performance data.
  • YouTube Engagement Team Management. Manage and direct the YouTube Engagement Team to increase engagement velocity. Oversee comment strategy, pinned comments, community posts, and audience activation systems to support algorithmic lift and improve retention signals.
  • Clips Channel Launch & Management. Launch and scale three (3) dedicated Clips channels. Define positioning, content cadence, packaging strategy, and optimization framework. Ensure clips are structured for high retention and algorithmic pickup.
  • Content Extraction & Curation. Identify and extract “viral-ready” segments from long-form episodes and past webinars. Develop a repeatable process for spotting high-retention moments, strong hooks, emotional spikes, and controversial or high-value segments. Package clips strategically for maximum reach.
  • Growth Experiments. Conduct monthly performance experiments across hook formats, title structures, thumbnail styles, content themes, publishing cadence, and retention strategies. Establish clear hypotheses, measurable success metrics, and documented learnings from each experiment.
  • Organic Growth Initiatives. Execute “organic hacks” and promotional strategies to increase reach without paid acquisition. Leverage cross-channel loops, audience flywheels, and distribution stacking to amplify performance.
  • Competitor Research & Trend Monitoring. Perform deep competitor analysis to identify emerging trends, packaging shifts, and whitespace opportunities. Track platform updates, algorithm changes, and viral trends. Pivot strategies quickly based on data and market signals.


Results

  • CTR Improvement. Increase click-through rate across managed channels within the first 90 days.
  • Retention Optimization. Improve average view duration and first 30-second retention metrics across uploads.
  • Clips Channel Growth. Successfully launch and scale three Clips channels, achieving consistent traction benchmarks within 6 months.
  • Experimentation Cadence. Execute and document at least one structured growth experiment per month.
  • Engagement Velocity. Improve engagement metrics (comments, likes, community interaction) across managed channels.
  • Subscriber Growth. Increase monthly subscriber growth rate across the ecosystem.
  • Competitive Positioning. Identify and implement at least three high-impact strategic pivots based on competitor or platform analysis within the first 6 months.


Requirements

  • Proven Track Record. Demonstrated experience growing YouTube channels and “cracking” the algorithm in any niche.
  • Deep YouTube Analytics Knowledge. Strong understanding of CTR, retention curves, traffic sources, AVD, subscriber conversion metrics, and performance optimization.
  • Experimentation Mindset. Comfortable running structured tests, analyzing results, and iterating quickly.
  • Trend Awareness. Highly aware of platform shifts, viral trends, and algorithm updates. Able to pivot strategies rapidly when needed.
  • Strategic Thinking. Understands how packaging, engagement, and distribution interact to influence algorithmic growth.
  • Organized. Able to manage multiple channels, experiments, and creative workflows simultaneously while maintaining performance focus.
  • Detail-Oriented. Ensures metadata, packaging, and optimization decisions are executed precisely and consistently.
  • Proactive and Reliable. Acts without being told what to do. Identifies opportunities independently and brings new ideas to leadership.
  • Leadership. Capable of managing and directing team members while holding them accountable to performance standards.
  • Experience managing or growing podcast YouTube channels is a plus but not required.
  • Available to work Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM ET.
