DATA OPERATIONS ENGINEER, VP

• Essential: Data Operations/Engineering Solutions + Hedge fund/Buy-side/BB banks
• £130,000 - £180,000 base + 70-100% Bonus + Package
• Location: Abu Dhabi, UAE (relocation & visa supported)

Pear Talent is representing an international hedge fund, who are expanding their Data Operations team in the UAE to support and evolve their production data platform powering live trading across global desks. This VP Data Operations sits within production operations and combine hands-on data engineering with real-time platform reliability.

You will contribute to strategic technical planning, develop robust data solutions, and ensure high data quality and governance standards are met. This role requires a blend of data engineering and operations skills to support the firm’s data-driven objectives.

Key accountabilities:

Take a hands-on lead role in data operations and engineering, solution development, dashboard/tools development and continuous automation/improvement. You’ll support and optimise ETL pipelines across Azure Data Factory, Fivetran, and Databricks (DLT/Workflows), diagnosing degraded pipelines and ensuring production stability. Beyond support, you’ll contribute to the build-out of data architecture, designing scalable solutions aligned with long-term strategy. You’ll also help develop a firm-wide data management dashboard, improve monitoring and controls, and automate workflows to enhance resilience and efficiency.

This team operates at the intersection of data operations/engineering and the front-office PMs etc so requires decent communication and relationship management experience.

Required experience:

• Bachelor/Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
• At least 6-8yrs experience in data operations/engineering or a related field, with a proven track record of supporting scalable data solutions.
• Prior experience in a hedge fund ideally, otherwise buy-side, bulge bracket banks (possibly sell-side)

• Proficiency in data technologies (e.g., Databricks, Spark) and experience with Azure Data Factory ideally.
• Experience of participating in development projects and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
• Advanced problem-solving skills, with the ability to tackle complex data challenges.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the capacity to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
