Job Title: Senior Platform Engineer

Contract Length: 12+ Months

On Site Work

Location: IRVING TX 75039

Pay: 70-80 an hr on W2

Will build, and scale a next-generation API platform and enterprise applications. This role drives end-to-end solution design and implementation across Java (21/17), Python, Angular, and GraphQL, while leading cloud-native delivery on Microsoft Azure and Red Hat (RHEL/OpenShift) using Terraform-driven Infrastructure as Code.

The position also governs technical execution of data center migrations (on-premises to cloud), ensuring performance, security, reliability, and operational excellence.

This role blends deep hands-on engineering with technical leadership, including architecture standards, code quality oversight, mentoring, and delivery governance across high-throughput APIs, distributed systems, and AI/ML-enabled services.

• Design and implement distributed systems using Java and Python.
• Lead and execute data center migration initiatives from on-premises to cloud.

• Drive cloud-native deployments on Microsoft Azure and Red Hat OpenShift.
• Develop Infrastructure as Code using Terraform.
• Implement secure API gateway patterns, versioning, and authentication controls.
• Optimize performance across JVM, Python services, and SQL workloads.
• Mentor engineers and enforce architecture, coding, and DevOps standards.
• Collaborate with DevOps teams to implement CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
• Ensure observability, reliability, and security across all services.

Required Qualifications

Experience

• 8+ years professional software engineering experience across Java (including Java 21/17) and Python, with a proven track record building production-grade APIs and distributed systems.
• 6+ years designing and leading REST and GraphQL API solutions (schema design, versioning, gateway, security).
• 3+ years leading teams or projects as a Tech Lead or Lead Engineer.
• 2+ years hands-on data center migration experience, including cutover planning and execution.

Languages & Frameworks

• Java 21/17 (virtual threads, records, sealed classes); Spring Boot, Spring Cloud; reactive stacks (Project Reactor).
• Python for services and AI/ML (FastAPI, Flask, Django; NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow or PyTorch).

• Angular (modern versions) for enterprise web applications.

APIs & Integration

• REST (OpenAPI/Swagger).
• GraphQL (Apollo, graphql-java; Graphene, Ariadne, or Strawberry in Python).
• gRPC (plus).

Cloud & Platform

• Microsoft Azure (AKS, App Service, Functions, API Management, Storage, Service Bus/Event Hubs, Monitor/Application Insights).
• Red Hat (RHEL/OpenShift) fundamentals for containerized workloads.
• Terraform (modules, remote state, workspaces, policy-as-code).

Data & Messaging

• Microsoft SQL Server (T-SQL, indexing, query optimization, performance tuning).
• Kafka or RabbitMQ.
• Redis or equivalent caching solutions.

DevOps & Security

• CI/CD (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins).
• Artifact management and automated testing.
• OAuth2, OIDC, JWT, mTLS.
• Secrets management (Azure Key Vault).
• Vulnerability management practices.

Education

• BS or MS in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with OpenShift operators, service mesh (Istio or Linkerd), and Kubernetes (CKA/CKAD certifications a plus).
• Hands-on experience with Azure Migrate, Azure Database Migration Service, and hybrid connectivity (ExpressRoute).
• Performance engineering experience (JVM tuning, Python optimization, SQL plan analysis, horizontal scaling).
• Observability tools (OpenTelemetry, Prometheus/Grafana, ELK/Elastic, Log Analytics).
• Infrastructure & configuration management (Terraform Enterprise/Cloud, Ansible for RHEL, OPA/Conftest).
• Certifications: Azure Architect (AZ-305), Terraform Associate, RHCSA/RHCE, CKA/CKAD.
• Experience with CQRS, DDD, event sourcing, and advanced caching strategies.
