Job Description

Federated Co-operatives Limited (FCL) is hiring a Supervisor, Payroll Services on a permanent basis on our People & Culture team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced payroll leader to step into a high‑impact role. We’re looking for someone who thrives in complex, service‑oriented environments and brings a confident, solutions‑focused approach. You’ll lead a committed team with a leadership style that values timelines, morale, and meaningful connection. This is an exciting opportunity to support multiple legal entities, solve interesting challenges, and shape solutions that directly impact employees across the entire Cooperative Retailing System (CRS).

This position is a hybrid opportunity, requiring the successful candidate to work in office once a week. This opportunity is open to candidates based in Saskatoon (relocation support may be offered for candidates based elsewhere).

What you’ll do:

  • Lead a specialized payroll team by coaching, allocating resources, providing performance feedback, and ensuring service levels are met.
  • Guide local Co‑op payroll teams through training, system updates, process improvements, and compliance‑driven configuration changes.
  • Manage enterprise‑wide payroll operations, ensuring compliant administration, taxation, deductions, year‑end processing, and resolution of escalated issues.
  • Review critical payroll files and reconciliations while steering mid‑year and year‑end processes and statutory reporting across multiple entities.
  • Produce audit‑ready payroll reporting and manage budgets to uphold strong governance, regulatory compliance, and operational accountability.

Who you’ll work with:

You will be one of two supervisors reporting to the Senior Manager, Payroll Services, working in close partnership to lead a team of Payroll Analysts and Payroll Associates. Together, you’ll foster a highly engaged, collaborative, and supportive team environment. Ultimately, this team aims to deliver exceptional service to FCL, local Co‑ops, and employees across the CRS.

Why it matters:

We help local Co-ops grow and thrive by offering a range of professional services, including marketing, market research, information technology, human resources, accounting, risk management and business development.

Who you are:

You are looking for a career in payroll leadership and:

  • Have 6-9 years' experience administering full-cycle payroll in a complex organization.
  • Have proven leadership experience.
  • Have a bachelor’s degree in business (a combination of relevant education and experience may be considered).
  • Possess a PCP designation.
  • Experience with Oracle HCM and UKG is considered an asset.

What we offer:

  • Competitive salaries, short-term incentives, a comprehensive benefits package, and an employer-contributed pension plan.
  • Relocation support may be considered for candidates based outside of Saskatoon.
  • Encouragement to take advantage of learning opportunities to grow and develop as a Team Member.
  • As a co-operative, we do business differently. We believe in working together to serve Western Canadians, delivering profits back to our communities and investing in sustainable growth. To learn more about who we are and what we offer, visit www.fcl.crs.

We are committed to providing reasonable accommodations throughout the recruitment process to ensure an enjoyable candidate experience. If you require an accommodation during the recruitment process, we invite you to submit your requests to us via fclhr@fcl.crs. All information received will be kept confidential.

If this opportunity speaks to you, we invite you to apply online. This opportunity will remain posted until filled.

We thank all candidates for their interest, however only those selected to continue in the recruitment process will be contacted. FCLHP

As this position is considered a position of trust, you may be required to complete a criminal record check in accordance with FCL policies.

FCL embraces diversity and inclusion. We’re working to create a workforce that is as diverse as the communities we serve and an environment where every team member brings their whole self to work. We believe all candidates should feel at home with us and be given the opportunity to fully participate during the recruitment process.
