Role Description

This is a full-time remote position for a Blockchain Engineer. The role is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining smart contracts and blockchain-integrated backend systems that support Wakaru’s product suite. The position focuses on production deployment, security, and performance rather than research-only development.

Day-to-day responsibilities include developing and auditing smart contracts, integrating blockchain networks with backend services, supporting oracle integrations, optimizing transaction flows, and collaborating with product and infrastructure teams. The Blockchain Engineer will contribute directly to live systems handling real asset tokenisation and blockchain-based payroll mechanisms.

Qualifications

• Experience in blockchain engineering or backend software development
• Hands-on experience developing and deploying smart contracts in production environments
• Strong understanding of blockchain transaction lifecycles and security principles
• Proficiency in Solidity and at least one backend language such as Rust, Go, or Python

Compensation and Benefits

This role offers a competitive annual compensation package aligned with Japanese market standards for blockchain engineering roles. The position is fully remote within Japan and includes a discretionary bonus component. Base salary range: JPY 12,000,000 to 18,000,000 annually, plus discretionary bonus
