Job Description
Production Designer Team Lead (2.5K - 3K USD/monthly)
Focus: Editorial Design
At Near, we help top talent in Latin America find remote roles with US companies. Our mission is to create better lives by fostering a remote work culture that transcends borders.
Our client is a leading U.S. commercial real estate firm. Their marketing and creative team supports real estate agents nationwide by producing high-quality corporate and property marketing materials. The team is fully remote and distributed across multiple U.S. time zones.
Overview
We’re looking for a Production Designer Team Lead who combines strong production design skills with a sharp eye for quality control. You’ll still do hands-on production work in InDesign, but a core part of your role will be reviewing and QA’ing the work of a group of offshore production designers. You’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders to uphold design standards, catch errors, and help optimize the production process. This role is ideal for a senior/strong mid-level production designer who enjoys mentoring, coaching through feedback, and maintaining high standards at scale.
Responsibilities
- Produce multi-page booklets and related materials using established templates and brand guidelines.
- Review and perform quality checks on books produced by 8-10 offshore production designers
- Focus on catching design/layout issues (alignment, hierarchy, spacing, typography, visual consistency), not just typos.
- Provide clear, actionable feedback to designers to correct work and improve their output over time.
- Help enforce and refine production standards, checklists, and best practices.
- Partner with internal stakeholders (e.g., marketing leadership) to ensure the output meets expectations.
- Contribute ideas to streamline processes and improve efficiency without sacrificing quality.
- Help onboard new production designers into templates, processes, and quality expectations as the team grows.

- Strong eye for layout, hierarchy, and typography — you can quickly spot when something looks “off.”
- Experience reviewing or mentoring other designers’ work (even informally), with a focus on elevating quality.
- Comfortable working at a high pace while maintaining rigorous quality standards.
- Strong English comprehension and good written communication to give concise, constructive feedback.
