Job Description


About the Role:

We are seeking a dynamic and hands-on VP of Engineering to join our growing team. This is a player-coach role where you will spend 60% of your time actively coding and 40% leading and managing a 10-person engineering team focused on AI, Middleware, and UI. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Middleware development, particularly using Java and Python, and will work closely with the Chief Architect to drive technical excellence.


Location: Remote (Preferred: ET or CT Time Zones)

Key Responsibilities:

Hands-on Development (60%):

Write, review, and optimize code primarily in Java and Python, focusing on Middleware solutions.

Collaborate with the Chief Architect to design and implement high-performance, scalable software solutions.

Provide technical leadership and mentorship to team members, ensuring high coding standards and best practices.

Team Management (40%):

Lead a team of 10 engineers across AI, Middleware, and UI domains.

Manage daily operations, including sprint planning, code reviews, and technical guidance.

Act as a liaison between the engineering team and executive leadership, aligning team objectives with company goals.

Foster a collaborative and innovative team culture while driving high performance.


Qualifications:

8+ years of experience in software development, with at least 3+ years in a leadership role.

Expertise in Middleware development using Java (required) and Python.

Proven experience managing and leading technical teams, including AI and UI components.

Strong architectural skills with experience in collaborating with senior technical leadership (e.g., Chief Architect).

Ability to balance both technical and managerial responsibilities in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.

Experience with remote team management and a strong track record of delivering on complex technical projects.

Preference for candidates located in ET or CT time zones.
